Luxxtone and my locking nut

Hey Guys,
This one is stumping my local luthier shop and maybe someone on here can shed some light on this.
I have a Luxxtone el Machete 22, and I want to put a Floyd on it. It came with a very nice 6 screw stratesque trem but I am all about the Floyd, so I brought the guitar down to my local guy to get a Floyd put on it. This guy is a great Luthier, has done wonderful work in the past, but this job is racking his brain pretty hard. The delima for him is that to put a locking nut on a Luxxtone neck completely blocks the truss rod access. So basically, you'd have to take the locking nut off every time you would need to make an adjustment. He thinks that this is absolutely insane to do and is suggesting possible putting the locking nut behind the nut that's already there. Now to me, that's retarded. Anyways, if any of you guys have a Luxxtone with a Floyd and care to share with a pic or two or just explain how this is set up on your guitar, it would be much appreciated.

If you have a Locking Nut/Floyd on a Luxxtone it has to be designed that way. Jerry puts the truss rod adjustment on the base of the neck (just above the neck pickup in the photo).

Tried emailing him 3 times. Got a response the first time and nothing the latter two. Tried calling and you get the voicemail indicating that they are insanely busy with no beep to leave a message afterwards. It also says the best method of contact is by email. In the first email I sent, it was two weeks before he got back, but he did say that he could put a Floyd on for me and gave me prices. The next two emails I sent were indicating I was ready to send him the guitar with questions about what address to ship to and his preferred method of shipping. Nothing back.
I get it, the guy is slammed. Maybe I should just send in the guitar to the address on his website and hope for the best.
Also, in the first email he indicated that he very rarely checks the Luxxtone posts on RT, so trying to contact him thru here is a waste of time.
So am I to understand that those whose luxxtone a are Floyd equipped have truss access at the neck pocket end of the neck instead of the headstock?
Thanks for the pics and advice to those who chimed in. My Luxxtone is one of the best playing guitars I own, and that's saying a lot right there.

Yes, that would be correct. On my last build I requested the Truss Rod Adjustment to be on the headstock and Jerry told me there wasn't enough room for that AND the locking nut. So, I opted for the locking nut, keeping the truss rod adjustment in the "traditional" location. All of my Luxxtone guitars are this way. I'd be very interested in knowing how Jerry solves this.

He's going to solve it by telling him he needs a new neck.

OP- just sell it and order another; once the neck is swapped and a Floyd is added, you won't be getting back the same sounding guitar.

Definitely do not just ship it to the address on the website and hope for the best; a really, really bad idea.

That's not true chief:
Here is an excerpt from Jerry's initial and only response to my first email:
"Just leave the guitar the way it is, I'll take care of everything that needs to be done. And of course, that original trem is yours, so it will be sent back to you with the guitar. You will for sure want the trem to be top mounted and not recessed. Especially since you want it to be dive only. And the recessed trem will take too much of the custom finish off, so top mount is the way to go. In my opinion, the large brass block that we use with all our Floyds is the best way to go. Good weight, sustain and tone."

As for selling the guitar, not an option for two reasons. 1.) it's a custom job that I absolutely love and 2.) the selling market right now for lack of a better word sucks.

Gonna try to email Dave on this and see what he says.
I'm at work now but when I get home I will post some pix of the guitar in question.

Man, I really want to know what Jerry's going to do. Keep me in the loop on this one, I'd also love to see your guitar. Luxxtones, to me, are the best feeling guitars I have ever played. Whatever Jerry does to the neck is magical.

I always try to contact Dave for scheduling etc. Jerry is hard to get in touch with and he will definitely contact YOU if your patient is on the table and he needs to clarify something.

It was my general idea, but Joe Morris kind of took off and ran with it. I could not have asked for a cooler guitar. Though, I could say that about all my Luxxtones.

Dude - you should just throw a Floyd on it with some locking tuners and just forget the locknut. I can tell that you are determined to get the locknut, but the guitar will have fine tuning stability under bar use with locking tuners and the Floyd...

Called Luxxtone just now and low and behold Jerry picked up on the first ring. Damn, the guy was so friggin nice over the phone that I thought he was going to invite me over for thanksgiving dinner.
He said he could do a Floyd on this guitar, but I would have to remove the nut every time an adjustment need be made to the trussrod. In his words,,,"a pain in the ass". So, I'm going to send him the axe and he is going to dial it in to stay in tune much better since the trem on it is a very nice all brass 6 screw type. He assured me that once done, I will be happy. Very cool. Better yet he talked me into doing another build.
My fingers are going to love it but probably not my wallet. Ha.
Probably the nicest person I've ever conversed with in this business.
