Hey War Admiral...dont get your fingerless gloves all in a bunch. Oh wait...George doesnt wear them anymore...saw Dokken open for Aerosmith and Monsters of Rock 88. Its like its not even the same guy...those baritone guitars were a good idea too...so are all the multiple projects that he starts which are below average at best...remember the Furious George cd? I dont either...neither does he I bet because he only did the solos on it...put on Back for the Attack and listen to "Cry Of The Gypsy". You tell me...I feel bad for the guy at Randall who pays his check. He's probably thinking: "At least put the SLO in our headshell"

Saw that same Dokken Areosmith tour!
Also owned the Furious George CD.
Ended up selling it on Ebay for like $75.00 when I sold off my CD collection! :D
Guy is good. Probably my all time fave guitar player. In my dreams solo? That is one of the best solos ever.

No Im good...  why the fuck do you care man? It doesnt mean nothing to you thats cool...let it go. I dont see what you have to prove to people that appreciate what and who he has influenced throughout his career. It doesnt matter what he does now...I dont get this resentment towards a guy that you dont even know...he loves music and also realized he can make money elsewhere with endorsements....you wouldnt do the same??? It all comes down to him not giving a sweet fuck what you think...Im sure he sleeps good at night and so will I  That hate will eat you up brother...take care

Off the top of my head...Alone Again, Tooth and Nail, Into the Fire, In My Dreams (GFTPM Solo of the Year Award '86), The Hunter, Heaven Sent, Lost Behind the Wall, Walk Away, Wicked Sensation, and Through These Eyes all jump out at me as having well constructed solos with great phrasing. I'm sure I would add to this list if I sat down and listened to the albums again.

I agree Rupe. But that just goes along with what I said earlier...dont see very many examples of his recent work on your list. I miss GFTPM. Those were the days.
Aw man you got that right...I grew up with GFTPM...I think I bought them all!!! Still have boxes full of them. Learned so much from them...

Got to admit, this lead break is BAD ASS! This has to be the best lead break I've ever heard George play. :)

A great guitarist is typically recognizable from just a few bars of his playing....George fits this category.

Neil Young is recognizable within a few bars. :D

I agree with you.

I love the new KXM disc...I also loved Kill All Control. I'm good with the direction George is going. Not sure if folks here want him to just churn out more Under Lock and Key.....he's obviously moved on from that.

I could only hope that he would churn out more Under Lock and Key and Back For The Attack. If someone asked about George Lynch, would you have them listen to anything he has done in the last 15 yrs? I doubt it. And Im in no way bashing anyone or saying that he is a poor player. But its funny when people post recent stuff about their favorite 80s shredder, then get mad when people say they like the earlier stuff way better. I could list a ton of players that into this category. I agree with Kapo on this one. The phrasing is not as good as it used to be. But again, that is just an opinion. As a player, I couldnt do one percent of what Lynch can do but that isnt the point, so dont go there. But let the guy have an opinion when he doesnt like every single thing a player has done. Want to talk disappointment? Lets talk waiting for 20 yrs and hearing Jake E. Lee's new project. But I better not say anything critical about his playing...someone who he talked to for five minutes at a club gig who is now his most biggest super duper fan might get upset. But just like a wise man said: "Antartic Blue? I thought you ordered Metallic Pea."
Didnt see this post...sorry man If I came off a little brash... thought you were hatin' You are right about Jake though...was a disapointment guitar wise but no hate here and am still glad he is playing...but its not the Jake of old and thats ok

Don Dokken's vocals...

Yeah...old Don held that band back big time. I can tell you this..when i saw em open for Aerosmith I remember George being so loud it almost washed out Wild Mick in the mix. It was great. At the Monsters of Rock show, it looked like George and Don made it a point to stay away from each other. But the tone was ungodly..He was one of those rare guys who's rhythm playing was as interesting as his leads. He would throw in the greatest fills in the middle of those verses and bridges. I miss that.

wow those dokken videos are friggen embarrassing.

"Ok ok ok, here's an idea... we are going to throw this tiger striped guitar in the air... right?!!! Ok, ok ok, hold on people, roll with me here.
Then we have don materialize from out of nowhere, looking like the cross dressing bastard child of Esteban and Zorro. George you need to stand like this, this and like this, make sure you look as uncomfortable as possible, like an elderly person eating excruciatingly hot wings..."

None, cause all his solos resemble "noodling". A bunch of flash shit strung together. Not lyrical at all.
