Dayummm M65 Creambacks pair killa’ with UK Vintage 30s. I have a Thiele Ported 2x12 that I have had loaded with a pair of 90 watt Alnico Creams and then with a pair of Heritage UK H30s - one 75hz and one 55hz. I thought the cabinet sounded a little ‘stiff’ with the 90 watt Alnico Creams in there for lack of a better term. Not quite as spongy / bouncy / lively as I was looking for. The lower wattage Heritage 30s pair extremely well - but give a definitive ‘vintage‘ vibe - especially in the mids which can be a bit square and boxy depending on your amp and settings.

On a lark, I snapped up a previously enjoyed UK made Vintage 30 and M65 Creamback - both 8 ohm variants. The Creamback has very little use and still needs to break in a bit. But the tone is killer. Mids are very full without being boxy, lows are tight and thumpy and highs are smooth and glassy. The Creamback is a bit more mid heavy where the V30 is a bit scooped out and they compliment each other very well. The horizontal Thiele port along the bottom of the cab adds near 4x12 thump to the low end.

Anyone with M65 Creams and V30s in an X pattern in their 4x12 please chime in. I’m stoked.

That's great that you like the M65 Creamback, do you find it similar to a Greenback type tone and feel? Sound like a they compliment each other well.....:2thumbsup:

Once broken in, the 65 watt Creamback is in the same tonal quality as the Greenback for sure. I had a 4x12 loaded with 4 Cream M65s and while it sounded good, it just lacked a little something somewhere - some bounce or liveliness that a low wattage true ‘Greenback’ cabinet has - hard to put into words. I think pairing the 65 watt Cream with the Vintage 30 adds some of that ‘3rd dimension’ back into the sound and the response under your fingers as you play.

Agreed 100%!
I ran a dual 2x12 setup for ages with Creamback 65's up top, and UK V30's down the bottom. All Creamback 65's sounded good, but just like your experience it lacked depth and had a flat sound overall. Mixing in the UK V30's down the bottom brought a 3D liveliness to the sound that just wasn't there with all Creamback 65's.

I've heard this is a nice combination of speakers. On it's own, I don't like the Creamback as I have had a couple of them over the years but I am probably in the minority in that. I could see it sounding great paired with a V30.

As much as I’m loving this horizontal 2x12, I can only imagine how good a straight front 4x12 with M65 Creams and UK V-30s in an ‘X’ pattern must sound.

I just ordered a pair of 2009 V30s to join a pair of M65 creambacks in my Splawn 4x12. I know they're Chinese( they do say UK on magnet but don't think that means anything with 2009s) but hoping they blend well. Replacing Splawn small block 55s which are in an X. Will move 65s to top and V30s on bottom ?

I’m a major Slpawn guy - QR and Nitro and both my 4x12s are Splawn. My 4x12s are both loaded with G12EVH which I love. But the tone I am getting with my Cream / V30 2x12 is seriously making me consider snapping up a pair of 16 ohm Cream 65s and a pair of 16 ohm V30s for one of the 4x12s. It just sounds that good. Please post your thoughts after you make the switch. I have heard very good things about the Smallblocks - but understand they are quite similar to the Creambacks - so adding the V30 vibe should liven things up a bit!
