wow i thought he had great tone on alot of songs, not carl roe great but
but the boy had feeling imho more so the yjm,,but thats just me
He popularized it but certainly did not start it. It took a huge helping of Blackmore and Uli Roth who had already done the ground work for it. Same with sweep picking arpeggios, listen to Chaplin and I off Uli Roth's Fire Wind, that's where he copped it. And Uli got it from Chet Atkins. As much as I dig Yngwie, lets not forget the guys that handed him the tools to do what he did/does...shred-o-holic":3k8i5ddg said:YJM basically started the whole Neoclassical thing so props be to him as an originator of a style.....and.....MAB is this mechanical no feeling beast on most of his stuff......I would take Rusty Cooley over him any day of the week.....then again Yngwie has plenty of feeling and that first Rising Force album is a classic.....

I love Paul but Malmsteen was definitive sounding. When Ygnwie came out he leveled the world of guitar and was the dude that toppled Eddie.
Spot on James. Yngwie took rock guitar to a quantum leap post Eddie and did it with Integrity without any Compromise...Yngwie is a perfect example of an American success story. He comes over to States from Sweden with a pair of jeans, a strat and vision/attitiude in 83'. He basically made Mike Varney and Shrapnel Records and started that whole scene. Wrote the entire Alcatrazz music from no parole less than a two week period since they had NO songs , then gets signed on Polydor to release his first solo album at the age of 20 years midst that tour in Japan 84. the rest is history and became a very wealthy and successful musician while all his imitators are not so. The man has balls and must have a wrote a good song or in betweeen all those millions of records sold worldwide.![]()
