Made in China quality

I tried the Chinese-made Hagstrom Swede guitars, and they were just crap. Wonky buzzy frets, never stayed in tune, loose controls, parts would just fall out of the guitar when I had the strings off. Partly I think because of the humidity. They'll ship North American wood over there, it expands in their factories, put together with all the parts, then gets shipped back here and if it's the winter, its a disaster. Never again for me. The actual guitar wood itself felt and sounded great, but everything else was crap. It's all about the finishing that really makes a guitar.

For the East, quality goes something like this: Japan -> Korea -> China -> Vietnam -> Indonesia -> India
The farthest I'll go is Korea ;)

Call your representatives and tell them to ease up on small and big business.

People who say things like this have no idea how business works. Stop watching Fox News and CNBC. The minute that restrictions were lifted on outsourcing, companies moved manufacturing offshore so they could pay workers almost nothing. The average hourly wage for a factory worker in China is around $2.00/hour and it is even less in some other places. You can't have it both ways... a good paying job AND less regulation on business. Just not happening.

Mesa amps and cabs, EV speakers, Gibson guitars, Monster cables, D'addario strings.

I do have an Epiphone, made in China or Korea or wherever, but it's not part of my main rig, plays ok and sounds ok, it's just ok.

A good friend of mine owned a Granite shop. (counter tops) Chinese granite has put him out of buisness. I avoid chinese made anything if at all possible.....but its not always possible. I'm not a fan of Japanese made products either. Although the quality is better. I do drink ALOT of Mexican beer though.

Bullshit. Let me guess, you're an employee somewhere. I own 3 different businesses. For most businesses, labor is a small percentage of operating costs. A LOT has to do with an EPA that has WAY too much power, IRS, Union, OSHA, to name a few, not to mention all the state departments that want their piece of your pie. ANd before anyone starts "but those departments help keep our environment clean and workers safe!" No they don't. I deal with red tape every day, nearly none of it keeps anyone safe, infact the EPA causes so many problems that their regulations cause more harm than good. It's about bringing in enough money into those departments by force selling permits and citations to keep said department funded, so that those people can continue to have a job.....force selling permits and writing citations.

Many big companies move overseas to get away from the bullcrap. Many of the small businesses like mine struggle more and more every decade because of it all.

When will these people figure out how the world works.

China is our enemy. They have nothing but ill intentions towards the US. Their plan from the very beginning once entered into the world trade organization was to financially ruin the US.

How the world works?

I think you need a reality check
China doesn't care about the US
They don't have a plan to ruin the US
China cares about itself, China wants to make money
Just like any other country, including the US
Looks like someone needs to do some homework. China doesn't like being in 2nd place. For one, why would they push to remove the US dollar as the world reserve currency? Hmmm.

$2.00 and hour. Here is todays exchange rate - 1.00 USD = 6.21 CNY. Anyway....not trying to fan the flames. I do scratch my head on the number of opinions on quality or for that matter the material used that deems quality. Nonetheless, go the Egnater forum and tell me what you see that dominates as the main topic.

Inferior work? Inferior parts? Who knows. But in the end the manufacture (with warranty) will bear the brunt of the choice they made to make their product in said country. China, Mexico, fill in the blank. Just my .02. on ya all!

listen to this person. they understand. EPA and OSHA can kill a already struggling small business.

China wants to ameliorate its situation, not ruin someone else
And why wouldn't they want to ameliorate their situation? Because it wouldn't be nice to another country? Gimme a break

you need to read up on Chinese currency manipulation.

just type it into your search engine of choice.

Its a stereotype for a reason. In china, they view things such as guitars etc as toys. They are not being made by luthiers or by people who even play guitar. It's all about cranking out high numbers at the cheapest price plain and simple. That's how they get the contracts, high numbers and low costs. Why do you guys think that there are no custom shops for any guitar company that are located in china.

I'm sure if we still had slavery in the USA , we could still possibly come a little bit closer to competing with china. But does that make it right?
