Mako isn't taking any more orders, so you might as well take some beeno.

I read that was just temporary while he moved his business to a bigger shop and that was only till January? No?

Correct.

OP, here are some Mako clips. Some of them are the Dorado version, but you'll get the idea:

I owned the very first Makoplex (sn 001) with the yellow and red transformers that pictured on the site (at least it was). I had Andrew (VERY cool guy, btw) brighten it for me - he made it have more "hair" in the top end, not an ice pick brighten. Matter of fact, the majority of the Makoplex clips on the Mako site are me. Anyhow, I had to sell it  for financial reasons, but I thought it was a great sounding head for Rock. I don't know what a MAK 2 is, but if it has the Makoplex pre amp section in it, I'll bet it sounds great.

The Mak2 is pretty much a Makoplex (black knobs) or Dorado (white knobs) with a dedicated clean channel and a added Freak knob that changes the mid voicing. Definitely cool amps, built like a tank and the guts/quality are insane.

great amps for sure, and Andrew is a great builder. The lifetime transferable is pretty rare, and I know for a fact he honors it. I had a Dorado and Mak2 white, very unique sounding badass amps. Abundant lowend that stayed tight, real nice growl in the midrange, and plenty of sizzle if you wanted to dial it that way. Bit on the dryer side, but still had saturation. One of the few amps I preferred unboosted for the more modern stuff, as it already had that boosted sound and feel. The guts are pretty unique too, that printed turret board design looked amazing.

Out of curiosity, I know you're more of a modern metal player, what's making you choose the Makoplex over the Dorado pre?

I really just like more present mids, I love that very vocal growl they have, and they inspire me more. The darker lower mids are just not the sound I like.
