check this out, not me... but sounds KILLER!!!

Erock makes killer clips and has great chops as well, smart move getting him involved as I listen to what he thinks.

Sounds awesome

hey, thanks DJ, appreciate that man. Right back at ya.

I think it sounds better with a bassline, and it definitely sounds better in the room. Those are raw tracks, no post eq or any kind of mastering. It's a badass preamp IMO, I'm really diggin it so far. I'm finding I prefer the Dorado thru the Herbert 6550 powersection, and the Makoplex thru the SE EL34 powersection. Really surprised he's able to offer so much for so little loot.

How much is it again? Can't seem to enter Mako fuckin website.

Erock, your clips always sound so wet and juicy. Opposite of dry. How do you get that ? That character enhances whatever amp you're recording.

It's $975 + shipping, Andrew was offering a $75 off coupon during 4th of July weekend but I think that expired.

thanks man. I think I just gravitate to those kind of amps tbh. I like tight amps, but I need a bit of sag, super dry amps just don't feel as fun to play for me. Could be my tracking too, I'm kind of sloppy, so the tracks always make kind of a chorus effect when I go hard left and right.

I think I might even like this pre better than the Dorado and Mak2 I had, since I'm able to mix and match poweramps. The Mak2 was a bit dry for me at times, but the Dorado ch on this pre screams thru the Herbert powersection. It adds a bit of sag to it that just makes playing it a blast. It's a simliar story with the makoplex thru the SE EL34 powersection. I think whatever poweramp I pair with this pre, a depth/resonance and presence control are going to be mandatory.

Very badass sounding clip man. Really making it hard for me to resist selling 2 heads and a cab and a guitar to get a dorado lol.

Oh shoot, should i abandon my Axe-FX plans for this thing? This actually smokes most clips I've heard from the Axe-Fx for heavy stuff......IMHO.

Damn! That's a deal for 4 channels.

Sounds great.
I'm just wondering why the hell they had to put a single PCB board in a 4 space rack?
Just doesn't make sense.
I'll probably buy one for the sake of buying one, but that thing is HUGE
I hope it sounds as good as the clip thats doubled up with compression and EQ.

Sounds awesome - as usual - Eric.

Andrew said he doesn't like to use mini pots. So using full-size pots requires a bigger face plate. There is alot of empty space on the inside. Though it looks huge, it only weighs about 14 pounds or so.

It sounds as good in person as it does in the clips. I had a couple guys at my house over the weekend, and the Mak4/Fryette 2/90/2 was the favorite over my Uber, Herbert, Axe FX and an ENGL SE.

thanks guys, glad you dig it, Andrew is a hell of a builder. I'm really bummed I have to give this thing back!

Killer clip Erock   how did you record it?
e906 and SM57, 906 on a K100 and 57 on a V30, doubled with 2 takes, 1 track from each mic. The Mak4 was running thru the Herbert poweramp loaded with Winged =C= 6550.

if you mean the clip in this thread, that's raw tracks, no compression or EQ on the tracks. I end up making it sound worse when I try my hack mastering techniques, lol, it just always seems to lose something.

what guitar did you use?

hey, does the footswitch have four separate 1/4 connectors for each channel or what.

the reason i ask is that i would prefer to do a midi setup. with separate 1/4 switching i could use my access labs to control the switching for the midi.
