Am still waiting for that. Did Malmsteen and Santiago get too pissed off each other in the process of developing this amp that Malmsteen does not stand behind the project anymore?

well there wasn't a dedicated site/web blog with videos and updates like for the slash amp, but that isn't really too surprising either

i somehow missed these demo vids , the andertons one was almost two months prior to marshall gg

Why do they even add a boost inside the amp?! Built in Reverb? All these features that add up into the ridiculous price of the amp. I'd rather have it separate if I think I need it...

New Marshalls suck anyways...

It's a signature amp. That's what Yngwie wanted. :poke: While I generally agree that it's over priced and old Marshalls are awesome, this is probably the best thing, next to the Vintage/Modern, Marshall's put out in a while.

Yup I know its his signature, but his amp is the one being replicated, why do we need all of the effects??? His amp doesn't even have a built in boost to begin with. I don't see Slash's amp coming with a built in Crybaby either...

That is why we also have the opportunity to buy YJM DOD, Dimarzio strap, Signature strings and so forth thus contributing to Yngwie's income...

I dunno why they add extra stuff, they did the same thing with the Kerry King model-EQ and noise gate.

Would like to see Yngwie demo it as well.

+1

does not really make any sense to me. i guess they felt a need to include the pedals in the amplifier because anything else would just be replacing the front cover of the marshall with a signature and thats it - otherwise bone stock to what they already carry.

they could have saved alot of time and money and just sold a package deal endorsement pedal seperately for each

to be honest i think it is a bunch of marketing scams - the reason yngwie is not playing it is because he has no reason too. the reason they are overpriced is because people exist that will pay for the name, even though they know well they can cop the tone by getting external pedals. boosting a marshall is not anything new by an stretch of the mind whatsoever.

KK is different - he does play his at least, but his are not a limited run and expensive as all get out :jerkit:

The anti-pedal crowd will love it. There's definitely a growing population of users who want everything shoved inside the box and think a design is "flawed" if you have to put a pedal up front.

First off, Chappers kicks ass.

Secondly, what can I say about Marshall sig amps? :dunno: I mean, they have to create SOME kind of differentiation within their product line up to make it seem unique and special, that's what marketing is all about. I was a little bit curious about the AFD amp, as with everything, I like Slash, Slash uses Marshalls, Slash has a tone, the tone is good (to me). Then, I looked into it. It's a Marshall. Period. And as I've said before, until I see an artist using an entire backline of their own signature gear, what's the point? And I also think that sig gear is just a game...I don't get into it whatsoever.

Anyway, there's my schpeel.

I hate to break it to you, I doubt Yngwie had you in mind when developing his amp. You do know the amp has not been officially released to right?

There is an interview around where Yngwie goes into detail why he picked the features. If you had the chance to come out with a sig amp, wouldnt you want what you wanted out of it?

I concur with everything you've said in this reply... But the real litmus test is seeing Yngwie playing with an entire line up of his own siggy amps henceforth. Otherwise, what's the reason for it? Just like Slash, seen a few recent feeds of him and some live stuff and some studio work - was he using the AFD? Not a chance   Just his usual beat to shit Marshalls and a couple effects... Gotta wonder.

I think with the AFD amp, it may have been more market driven. So many people seemed to be after that amp and record's tone. Might be something he records with and not tours, hard to say..

Hey Guys - This is my first post on your forum - 'Long time reader - first time poster"
In one of the interviews that Santiago has done on the 'YJM" Marshall, he stated that Yngwie used a prototype of his signature head on his latest CD "RELENTLESS". And Yngwie wanted reverb in the amp because he uses reverb live if he playing in a very dry venue.
But I know we would like to see Yngwie sit down and play the amp and explain his vision...

Well I guess he didn't have me in mind because I wouldn't buy a new Marshall. Period.

That being said I think that there is no point except making money in developing an amp he doesn't play.

Yngwie does not use the YJM signature guitar, nor does he use the regular production DOD 308, I've seen him live a couple of times and all his guitars were vintage strats with the scalloped board. So I have no reason to think he will use this amp instead of his old Marshalls...

I have yet to hear any clips or vids of this amp that sound good and I'm not picky about clips at all. Even the Marshall demo sucks and they usually make the amp sound better than it really is. :D

I think the amp looks good and has cool features but the vids of it aren't doing Marshall any favors IMO.

You are dead wrong. Yngwie has been playing his Signature guitars live for the past 2 tours when they did the 2nd revision of them. Yes, prior to that its always been his vintage stuff. Also, he did play the New Signature Amp at the NAMM 2011 show at the Grove in Anaheim.

he wouldnt have much of a choice to play his own signature amplifier during the amplifiers release now would he?

insert george lynch-box analogy here.
