So, me and the Mrs. went to the bank today to convert our accounts to joint. Iām now joint on her checking account, sheās now joint on mine and we moved her savings to my account (which is now joint) and closed hers because my āpackageā gets a much higher interest rate. Weāve been together for over 17 years and married for 2 (as of 12/23). This is part of the ā3 year planā (Iām looking to retire when I hit full retirement age at that time). Included is two new vehicles purchased with cash (one accomplished earlier this year, shopping for the other now), moving retirement assets to one account, and consolidating to one house (we have two), purchased with cash. Whether we remodel and move to hers, remodel and move to mine or sell both and build is undecided.
While at the bank, I asked for a bunch of coin wrappers. We both had jars/bags of change and with the obsolescence of the penny, it seemed like a good time to cash in. The results:
* $374 in rolled coins
Plus
* $23 in Susan B. Anthony coins
* 37 half dollar coins
* 22 silver quarters
* 11 silver (Mercury) dimes
* 7 āBuffaloā nickels
* 31 āWheatā penniex
Other than silver value, none of the older coins are highly valuable from a collectorās standpoint (no unique mint marks, well worn, etc.) but still singled out and saved.
Thatās how we roll on NYE
