I wouldn't consider the Mk III a metal amp.

Eeh I just think Recto more then Mk III for metal, but I guess I was also thinking more death metal drop tuning for some reason than 80s style Ratt/priest/ozzy. An ozzy guitarist did use one so yeah I stand corrected and can see/hear that.steve_k":ixp3xata said:jlbaxe":ixp3xata said:I wouldn't consider the Mk III a metal amp.
oh, i would beg to differ bro. lot's of metal in the Mark III.
Which Ozzy guitarist used a Mark III? Gillis is the only Mesa player I can think of and the Mark III wasn't around yet during his brief tenure.jlbaxe":30hhmw37 said:Eeh I just think Recto more then Mk III for metal, but I guess I was also thinking more death metal drop tuning for some reason than 80s style Ratt/priest/ozzy. One of the best lead tones that I ever put to tape was a cranked IIB (dimed with no pedals)...I need to try and find the old master.danyeo":2iolqlio said:Brad Gillis used the IIB. Actually 2 halfstacks with a stereo chorus pedal.
I know Anthrax used the Mark III at one point because Kirk Hamett talked them into trying Mesa. I think songs like Madhouse are Mesa Mark III's.
Not that it matters but the Offspring used Mark IV on all their albums.

Mesa gets hate on TGP. Probably because Mesa is associated with METAL. A lot of musicians have this thing in them to hate something when it achieves a measure of success or popularity. Just look at the obscure overrpriced shit that nobody's heard of in the real world that gets elevated to God status over there.

Mike B says my MKIIC Will be 100% genuine real deal, done by him, the guy that built the originals. But it will be a few bucks and have the letter from Mesa.
They will do other models and say they will be a version of the + mod. So you can get a MKIII+ if you want.
Seems pretty cool of Mesa. I like Mesa amps and the customer service is great. I keep hearing people on the Boogie Board saying the RA100 is your best bet to get close to the IIC+ tone.

It's only 1 guy saying that, RichB. But his clips of the RA100 are pretty killer so maybe he's onto something. I think the RA100 is a great amp.

The clean channel was average at best. The gain has a very saturated but raw quality. Even scooping the mids on the GEQ you can still here a aggressive character in the midrange. They had it priced at $1999. I didn't find myself falling over to buy it. Good but nothing to make me hate what I have.
Long live the Mesa tonz!!!steve_k":1ufs64vv said:People just got to accept the fact that all roads to the top in the 80's and 90's passed through Petaluma, California at one point or another. It's the brand that people love to hate for some reason.
