I thought the MKIIC was a bit of hype until playing one. I bought it immediately. I talked to the guys at Boogie and they said I must get it modded to the genuine + since it is already a IIC.

That must have been a perfect specimen!!

Yep. It is approx 200 to get it back to spec with new parts, then 400 to have Mike B do the mod. You send a personal check written out to Mike for the mod. Pay the Boogie shop for the service as needed and shipping.

Got that quote and RMA a month ago.

It was a pretty nice specimen, newer headshell and also came with an old beat up combo cab with the original Evm speaker. Doug West from mesa mentions how he owned 8 of the IIC+ simulclass heads without graphic eq because he felt they sounded better than the graphic ones, if I could find a good priced one I'd get it and just put an eq pedal in the loop.

Wasn't me. Last one I bought was $2900. They are really becoming collector pieces now. Dayum....$4K. Here's my alternate solution....

Mark V on IIC+ with GEQ smiley, the send trimmed up hot and slaved out to the FX return of this Gower modded Marshall that has some post-preamp EQ control and tube loop. The W/D tone is smoking hot through the Mesa cabs. With only one input, there's no ground loops to contend with, no phase issues to mess with and straight in, no pedals.

The MkV gets a bad rap, but you just got to spend time with it. The bastard can be a little quirky to set up and is very touchy. The preamp of the amp is great and the power end is blah. Hence, slaving to the Marshall. Stand back and wet the vaginas with this....

Definitely something to hang onto for obvious reasons of collector value and great IIC+ tone. Of all the amps I sold, the IIC+ seller remorse is unbearable....
