This is my C+/++ SG run dry into my creamback 412 you can easily hear how brutal the amp sounds straight in w/no fx.

Nothing serious here except the ultra liquid smooth attack of the C+/++

Why Jeremy complains about the eq make zero sensei if you set it up to assault mode like I do. The GEQ is far superior to the non eq models and this clip shows how violent this amp can be but again no way is it possible to even approach this level of heavy without it, period.

It can get heavy with an external EQ

That's not the point and it's well known an eq inserted into the loop isn't placed in the same point as the one on the amp, further they are far different as the onboard GEQ runs@high voltage. Take it for what it is, it's not remotely the same.

Well there are youtube clips of a IIC+ without the GEQ using a Mesa 5 band EQ in the loop, and it's dialed up just like another IIC+ with onboard GEQ and it's pretty damn close. They both sounded great IMO. They may not be in the same spot but they are both after the pre-amp, which is what matters most.

I’ve tried many GEQ pedals (including the Mesa 5 band) in the loop and out front in my iic+ HRG and while they can sound good, none of them came close to sounding like using the actual GEQ of the amp

I also agree about the GEQ models sounding better. I loved the DR I had, but once I got the HRG and compared them, the DR got sent packing fast. I compared them with the HRG’s EQ bypassed to make it apples to apples and still much preferred the HRG. It was more open, raw and aggressive and even sang a little more on leads, while the DR was smoother and more compressed. The only thing I preferred about the DR was that it was just a little tighter and maybe faster responding, but overall much preferred the HRG

Agree with this 100%...and TJ is spot on..sure you can use a nice EQ pedal, or nice rack PEQ but it's still not the same. The faster attack is cool, but the only way you get a non GEQ to sound as good while hitting the same tonal spot is to have the tone stack changed to a more scooped response. That's what I'd try if I had a non GEQ C+..I'd send it to Mike B and have him 'de HONK' the circuit. Lol

That sounds vicious. My C+ SG went on a trip to Petaluma, and when it returns, it’ll be a ++. :rawk:

Post pics of the new headshell when you get it. Man I'm actually embarrassed posting this clip, not the sound of the amp but rather how it represents the amp after hearing some other heavy chug clips you guys are posting. I need to learn how to too so this posting just turned into an official cry for help, lol

Sounds awesome man! Are those the newer 65/75 creambacks or vintage ones?

That's my original marshall cab from '79 I call it the secret weapon. I bought that cab from some punk rock kid and it looked like it was dragged behind a semi trailer truck for $100 bucks and cleaned it up and I swear it's pure gold man.

They are killer speakers...my favorite GB by far until I scored a 72 with Pulsonics..and the 72 I just give a small edge to. They have more clarity and 'chewiness' if you will.
Those cream back GBs were put into cabs from 74-76 I believe...I've had 2 cabs, both from 74(one of my cream backs is from 76) and both cabs sound amazing. By contrast I've tried 3 different black back cabs from 77-78 and none of them even approached how great the 74 cabs sound to me at least.
