I own a Mesa boogie Mark V right now and I like it a lot but a 10 band eq and an OD are necessary to get as heavy as I like to get. I don't always play metal but I love an amp that can its going to be my only amp for awhile as I just got a Suhr modern (I'm now Broke) so its gotta do it all but I'm curious what you guys think would be the best amp to cover anything from fenderesque clean tones/light crunch, classic rock to super thick metal rhythm tones and fluid lead tones out of those listed above would be and reasons why. thanks

I had a V and I know exactly what you mean. Sure it has loads of gain and gets super tight, but it lacks the depth to sound massive. Also, it is pretty smooth so it doesn't sound super aggressive. I never tried mine with an extra EQ or anything but V30's. I did boost the crunch mode sometimes. I've chased a lot of tone over the years and I suggest you just keep the Mark. It does everything very well except get the massive tones like a 5150 or Recto. Still, I have not played another amp that was so versatile. Keep the OD and EQ to push it over the edge when needed. Pretty much any other amp would need far more pedals or lots of knob tweaking to cover the same ground.

I think your probably right J Sutter It does have a balls load of gain its just the tightness that probably keeps it from having that wall of gain sound the 10 band used in the loop to boost the lows and highs takes it pretty close to recto or orange or100 huge territory. I bought a bunch of nice high gain amps like the bogner uber twin and recto but none of them do clean and classic stuff like the mark does its good advice. I just always find myself getting gas for all these sick amps out there I haven't owned yet lol thanks for the help

never tried the rivera stuff Ive seen them around though Ill look into it for sure I do have a really nice early bogner 4x12 straight w/ original english v30s that would be so killer with an xtc on it in my head but dont know if the gain would be brutal enough lol and no never tried a slo in person like the recorded sound though

man wish I wasnt at work and I could here that hagen clip lol dont tell my boss

gbsmusic is that a pt100 or od100se+ you got in that pic? how do you feel about it

Rezamatrix that diezel is nasty just plugged some speakers in lol sooo expensive though the d moll is a little easier to get at but its good to dream lol thats a nice rig though I had a splawn cab like yours with creambacks liked it alot

yea I have been a stalker of this forum for a long time I just actually committed and joined the other day because there are some sick deals in the classifieds saw a dmoll up and he was looking to trade for a mark v possibly I really wanted to talk to him but cant lol but didnt know I could by a diezel at gc who knew I have a 20% off purchase on acct. since they sent me the wrong guitar what a good item to use that on lol thx

The Satan is the most aggressive amp I've heard.

The Satan is the most aggressive amp I've heard. The cleans aren't half bad either. 2k for a Fortin amp.

ehh that one doesn't really do it for me. Its gonna be my only amp so Its gotta cover all my styles not just the heavy stuff tho that one sounds a little thin but fuzzy with the in the middle gain settings maybe the volumes really low on that vid

I've got a Mark V, VH4, Herbert, and Friedman BE 100 and have had (among others) a CAA OD100se+ and BE 100. The only one I'd part with is the Mark V, but I do think its a great amp.

I loved the clean on the CAA, never heard a better one on a channel switcher. That being said, I couldn't ever get the CAA to where I wanted it. Something going on with the mids that I can explain. Not enough cut is the best way to describe.

That being said, I am a HUGE fan of everything Diezel so I'm probably biased. For me the VH4 is probably the most versatile but theres something about the Herbert that is just undeniably fun to play, especially for the heavy stuff. Great thing about the Diezels is I never found a need for a boost or an EQ. IMHOP, they are just that good.

You also may want to try a Rhodes. I've never played one but Kyle is about the coolest dude your going to meet in the business and makes a killer product. Great cleans, crunch and heavy on the Colossus.

I've owned every Amp that you have listed
above, Several times over....and the one that
has the Saturation, Bottom End and Shimmering
Cleans that you're looking for is a Diezel, (Bottom Line)!!
I own my second D-Moll right now and it completely
Slay's!!!
I LOVED my XTC 101b, CAA PT-100/SE+ but they are based
mostly on a Marshall-esque Flavor but lacked the Foundation
Thumping Bottom End that a Diezel packs, straight out of the
Box. They all have plenty of Gain but the Diezel Saturates more!

The High Gain Amps that have the best Clean Tone is the Diezel
Herbert/D-Moll and the CAA PT-100/SE+, Period!!!
Sparkling, Crystal, Fenderish in nature, they all have it.
The VH4 & XTC 101b are a Close, Second place.
I am an expert on High Gainer's that can do it all...
Trust Me. I've owned them All at one time or another.

ahh you guys have me pretty convinced I need to get my hands on a diezel. with the CAA stuff I was wondering why people seem to unload them quickly maybe it was the wierd mids as was mentioned but that clean channel is top notch from what I hear I will have to look into rhodes awhile and find a diezel somewhere in pa to try which seems to be harder than I thought lol

There was a guy on here in the classifieds who posted a diezel d moll don't have enough posts yet to talk to him thats what I get for stalking this forum and not contributing for the last few years though lol.

the rhodes gets pretty mean from what I can see but the cleans don't seem to have that bouncy alive tone I crave in a clean channel thats only through my crappy computer speakers though maybe I'm wrong
