Plug a pedal cable in the send return with no pedals and adjust the loop level and listen for a change.

I did that a while back and still noticed a change, but it was less. I will keep testing when I get some time, it doesn't bother me that much. I do wish the loop levels were not controls from the channel volumes on the mark IV. Just looking into getting a mark V, but was hoping the loop was improved....
Preamp tube maybe?

I played a Mark V again today (head/4x12) even though I haven't bonded with it in the past. I think there's a lot of different tones in there but I just couldn't get rid of a really pinched, nasally mid range on most light crunch to heavy settings. I actually found myself liking the MK1 setting on CH 2 the best for higher gain stuff. Kill the bass and get the treble and presence up and it's pretty rockin'. Overall I hated the pinched midrange peak it seemed to have across the board.

It's funny too, at first it sounded off in some way. I checked settings on the back and noticed the caution light was on for the bias select. Someone had set it to EL34

This is precisely the reason I only buy amps and guitars that are boxed and untouched. Way too many douchebags messing around with stuff.

Thats probably a smart move, I never really thought about all the idiots who mess with all the settings trying to be cool. I bet some dude would really go to town on all of the knobs and switches on a Mark V!

Wasnt this a question for the Mk V? Has anyone used it with a 212 open or closed? or 1x12? How is the Combo version? Does it have the Black Shadow MC90?

I use my Mark V with a pair of closed back 2 x 12 Lopo cabinets at rehearsal and when i play live I use a pair of Bogner 1 x 12's.

And how does it sound???

The Lopo 2 x 12's sound a little more compressed and darker. The Bogner 1 x 12 sound more up front and open.

Hmmme 1x12s live and not the 212s  How are the Bogner 1x12s? Are they ported?

Yes, they are dual ported. The bogners sound better and they are easier to transport in my car.

Interesting idea. That must kill most of the bass response from the cab, right? I've seen those lil' Bogner Cubes. They are small and come ported and unported, right?

The Bogner cubes are dual ported and put out a lot of bass.
