Based on the gut shots, clips, and what the people who already have them have said, is it worth it?

It looks like its been the best thing we've seen from Marshall lately.

I wonder what other tones it could get close to, maybe as far as AIC territory?

What are you guys' thoughts?

That amp has some nice features, but i would rather have an old JMP and have a KS mod by Dave Friedman, which is what i'm doing.

I agree with you! haha. I'd love this amp as well though I think. Dave's mods can do the Slash thing but I doubt the AFD100 can do Dave's sounds.....

Only if it comes with a stovepipe hat

I don't think it is overpriced by any means at 2K. Self-biasing features and a built in attenuator are handy little tricks for the not so knowing tube amp owner. What is worth it to one, may not be to you. To me, it is not worth it because I don't feel the need to emulate Slash. And, I hate buying signature anything. If they advertised the amp with the same voicing and features, they would probably sell more. Wait a few months and there will be some used one's show up. Having said that, its like an ugly girlfriend with a hot body, I wouldn't mind giving it a go just once.

If they come out with an AFD 50, in non-Slash, production gold panel, I might buy one. In "limited edition" expensive silver, probably not.

Hey Guys,

It is totally worth it for the $2K price point and Santiago, the man behind the amp and the new Marshall designs is a member here and a good dude. I will be getting one for myself and several for the shop. Cool Amp.

Sanitago

I would love to try this amp one day

Anyone know if the amp uses the same power scaling as the Fargen amps? Or is it just a built in power brake?

Brad, you think it could cover some AIC territory?

I think so, it sounds like a pissed off Marshall.

I think this would be a good first marshall amp for myself. Im so ready for something else. 5150III is great but it is time for a change!

I got to check it out with Chet who is Slashs tech backstage in Boston. Chet and Slash love the amp. It sounded killer as well in his rig.

I think, judging from vids/clips, it sounds like a great Marshall. If you like the traditional Marshall tone I don't see how you could go wrong.

I think it is worth it thats why I have already claimed one. And it will be nice to have a marshall in the house again it's been alot of years since I've had a marshall.

I agree with what seems to be the general consensus, pretty good amp for $2K. But man-Dave's stuff

I could see myself buying/trading for one when they hit the used market. I don't think it is worth taking the initial hit that is involved when buying new.

Hopefully Marshall keeps it up. This and the JVM have been good by me :D

thats a cool picture Brad thanks! you got anymore pics of the rig?
