Only if it comes with a stovepipe hat

I don't think it is overpriced by any means at 2K. Self-biasing features and a built in attenuator are handy little tricks for the not so knowing tube amp owner. What is worth it to one, may not be to you. To me, it is not worth it because I don't feel the need to emulate Slash. And, I hate buying signature anything. If they advertised the amp with the same voicing and features, they would probably sell more. Wait a few months and there will be some used one's show up. Having said that, its like an ugly girlfriend with a hot body, I wouldn't mind giving it a go just once.

'Round my neck of the woods we call that a But'her Face.

AKA a Two-Bagger

A lot better than a tea bagger....

.....I hate that politics has ruined the awesome original intent of that expression :(

the more and more I listen to clips the more and more I like this amp!

Personally I think they should have made it switchable so you could still go JCM or have the mod since it is based on the #34 S.I.R. amp. It does have some nice extra features, but like Steve mentioned...I don't really want a signature anything unless it's pretty versatile.

both the self biasing and the attenuator will be trickling down to other models eventually, if they are truly as good as what we are expecting them to be.

if the slash tone is your favorite, then 2k doesn't seem like much for a new amp with a warranty.

<Fanboy> Egnater Mod 50 with an SL2x! </Fanboy> :D

Seriously, the Eggie SL2x module nails that AFD tone. So much so, that I was noodling around with that module, and a player friend of mine started singing GNR tunes from AFD. I wasn't even playing GNR licks. Then I told him that's what the module was designed after, and he was blown away. Yup. Nails it.

I don't think it's worth it for $2K new...used I might check it out though.

I see the Chinese made their mark on the chassis just above the mains input.

Isn't that just the warning, translated into Chinese (or Japanese), for the Asian market? It doesn't say "Made In China".

I'm not a fan of Marshalls in general, I'd probably go with a vintage head and get it modded before throwing down for one of these. BUT!!! That being said, and if all the hype is true, there's apparently been a lot of R&D put into this head, and if that's the case, the sound and tone are different than anything else out there, I'd take one for a test drive for sure. Would I buy it?? Depends on how unique it sounds. Maybe in 4 years I'll pick a used one up if it is a good tone amp...

But as a rule, er, preference, I don't get into signature series stuff... I choose to not overtly emulate anybody but me :D

Peace!
V.

PS - Gotta say though, I do love Slash's playing, tone, style, and longevity in the world of music. He's obviously playing some classic stuff, cuz it's not gone out of style or popularity since the days of AFD hitting the shelves at the music shops!!

I was just about to say I didn't care if something was signature or not but then remembered I'd rather get a vasectomy with a butter knife than own a Chad Kroeger? Les Paul

I'm not a big fan of Slash but do like his playing. So far the amp has consistently sounded pretty good to me in vid's etc. I think I might give one a try. I would prefer the classic Gold on the face though.

Yeah, it's just a warning translated into 3 languages.

Japanese market requires that mark. It relates to the mains power or something on those lines. It is found in any product that is imported/sold in Japan

Ah, we can just send them the Axe FX. Leave the Marshall's here..... :D

I, like Brad, checked out the amp at a show with Chet as well and they have put in a ton of time on the amp. Slash really liked it and Chet had a lot to do with the cosmetics. I think it looks cool because it is different. What I have heard as far as clips so far sound killer. :thu: I'll most likely get one at some point.
