If you search Doug Aldrich pedalboard on Google you will essentially just find a wah, phaser / vibe pedal , his rocket fuel and a rotation on delay pedals in the loop. So really, the Doug Aldrich sound you hear night after night is a boosted Marshall. Probably rents DSL 's and boosts em.

I also think he should have cashed in as best he could years ago and not been too picky. He's a great player but he's already a bit of a forgotten icon now.
Yeah the Aldrich ship has sailed. Even the Dead Daisey's are fleeting.

That's what I felt with the whole signature Peavey Misha Mansoor thingy...but then again, I'm too old to be lumped into the djent-demographic. :sneaky: :p Not bashing the player...but more of a 'he's not that big of a household name, guitarwise, outside a certain niche'.
With that logic James Murphy, Tony McAlpine, Jennifer Batten and Warren DeMartini al deserve some sig amps.

Oh dude, go check out Sevenstring.org. Any guitar/amp company not jumping on the djent thing right now is stupid not to. If you think TGP is bad with people blowing an assload of money on gear, you’re gonna shit when you see the $4500 custom guitars these kids flip like fuckin’ pedals. That younger generation has it’s parent’s credit card on lock. Kiesel’s are probably the most standard guitars purchased regularly over there and I know those aren’t cheap.

I joined a couple guitar-based FB groups last year and was blown away by how rabid the djent crowd is. The whole thing that happened with 80’s shredders influencing young guitarists is now happening with Misha, Tosin Abasi, Plini, Polyphia, etc. The resurgence of headstock-less guitars? All from the djent scene.

There is a Marshall DA prototype or two floating around out there. I believe Doug got them and either sold/gave them to someone and off they went. They do exist; I saw one for sale on eBay many moons ago. The Engl Artist; I thought that was for Gary Moore? Then they changed it up a little and went to Doug? Something like that.
The Marshall AFD was the 'Hot Rodded Marshall' except of course, they limited it. Just like the YJM amp.

Oh, I'm well aware that the whole 'djent' thing is very much 'it' on that forum... it's just that if you look at rock guitar-based music in general, 'djent' is still a niche. The thing typically with a niche is, that the fans in it are more vocal, thereby creating the impression that something's bigger than it is, when looking at it from a layman's view.

FWIW, I never was a fan of headstock-less guitars TBH...

I think the same thing could have been said for Jake E Lee, yet Friedman recently made him a limited signature amp that retailed for like $4k
That was a Freedman thing not a Jake thing.

I never got the whole Dead Daisies thing to be honest.

Sounded like unimaginative, rehashed, B-side material.
I never really listened to them but I did see them open up for Whitesnake years ago and thought they were pretty jammin. Doug Aldrich wasn't even in the band though; it was Rich Fortus on guitar (and his friedman rig sounded epic)

I don't disagree, but there have been a shitload of crazy expensive NGD's on that forum for about 12 years straight. That forum has put small builders out of business by overloading them with orders, it's happened like 4x on there. ?

They just bore the crap outta me.

Some of you boys need to get your ears syringed

If it was instrumental only it might be listenable... he is a great player with great tone. I still don't see the business benefit to pay him to put his sig on gear. That said I have no data on market size of Aldrich fans.

i recall getting into a debate with some toy on this very forum about how doug is far superior to jeff beck
ha!
hey to each his own!
some guys are married to heavy set women that smoke and have fishy smelling vaginas
whatever floats your boat maaaaan
Doug seems like the nicest guy and is a competent player, that dead daises song posted above was unlistenable due to the vocals,
sorry I tried.
I bet he is super easy/professional to work with which is why he is consistently playing clean up shortstop in the remnants of all of theses has been 80s bands on their last legs in the 10th inning,
Also it certainly doesn't hurt that he looks like a young version of Peter Fonda and is happy to floss the six pack ,and I think his image is 50% of his schtick and why he always get the gigs.
