He did endorse the Marshall JMD1 Digital amp for a while but not a signature amp...

Is there really a market for a Doug Aldrich signature anything? I get a Slash signature, I get EVH, I get SRV, Jimi etc. generally speaking a huge amount of people know who those guys are the company wouldn't limited to guitar players in merchandising. But what market really exists for Doug Aldrich signature gear?

Happy for the dude that he gets this kind of interest from companies, but I don't understand why the companies are interested. Not meant as a knock, just a question... Full disclosure I have some other peoples signature gear in my collection that someone else could easily ask the same question about, if the same product was offered without the signature I would have bought them.
Couldn't agree with this more.

I'm pretty sure there is a market for limited edition DA Signature amp of about 6 units.

That's what I felt with the whole signature Peavey Misha Mansoor thingy...but then again, I'm too old to be lumped into the djent-demographic. :sneaky: :p Not bashing the player...but more of a 'he's not that big of a household name, guitarwise, outside a certain niche'.
With that logic James Murphy, Tony McAlpine, Jennifer Batten and Warren DeMartini al deserve some sig amps.

Aside from the JCM900 SL-X, have Marshall made a decent "hot rodded" JMP/JCM800 en masse? It seems like the Jubilee and SL-X were their answers to the modding craze of the 80s, but it seems like the emergence of an entire market for modern production modded Marshall derivatives is evidence of demand that could be more lucrative for them than specific signature models. Or maybe the demand is just a smaller subset of us middle aged players?

The late 70`s and early 80`s will never happen again. It was guitar at its height, it was like a sport aka skateboarding/ surfing. It was the best and Im thankful I was there.

Yet Pete Thorn has a signature Suhr amp. I think it would be awesome if Doug struck a deal with either Friedman or Suhr for a signature amp. Marshall may be a bit too big but those other guys could probably make it work.

Engl wanted him but God only knows why that deal never came to fruition.

Engl is pretty damn big IMHO. Not Marshall or Fender big, but still big.

And the kicker is, he turns Engl down but does a deal with some small time, Italian company called Baroni Labs :lame:

According to several interviews, Doug's main two amps were modded by John Suhr in the early 80s. Its basically the 100SE. A couple of years ago, he had some pictures on his Instagram of a signature Suhr amp that he was using with the Dead Daisies. As far as the market wanting things from Doug, I'd be willing to bet that his signature pickups are the best sellers in the Suhr line. I have four sets of them...lol!

Considering that the Suhr 100SE sells for close to $4k, I doubt that many people will be rushing out to get one or a Doug sig. We can argue all day long about whether or not current gear prices are reasonable, but not many guys playing in bar bands are rushing out to drop $3-4k on their amps.

You’d be surprised

Yeah, especially if it's just a handful of tweaks to an amp they're already producing. Friedman's an example of a company that does that, to varying degrees. Smaller shops have more agility to accommodate things like that, versus someone like Marshall for whom a few changes would impact an entire production run.

If you search Doug Aldrich pedalboard on Google you will essentially just find a wah, phaser / vibe pedal , his rocket fuel and a rotation on delay pedals in the loop. So really, the Doug Aldrich sound you hear night after night is a boosted Marshall. Probably rents DSL 's and boosts em.

I also think he should have cashed in as best he could years ago and not been too picky. He's a great player but he's already a bit of a forgotten icon now.

Jabronie labs more like it ....

I kid of course, they do some great stuff but that solid state pedal sounds like shit. The secret to his backline! Yeah right ...a 20 second Google image search dispels that pretty quick.
