Cheapest one I've seen was a clean used one for $1499 at GC. I sold/traded mine for $1800 but that was a while back.

LOUD. Bold. Tone. LOUD. Very well made. Did I mention, LOUD?

Gonna be loud! Some good deals on ebay. I was considering the same thing, but did even better on ebay. Look for some vintage )the real hand wired) Marshalls. I bought recently:

1978 JMP Super Bass non-master 100W
1976 JMP MKII 4 input non-master 50W
1983 JCM 800 Master volume 100W

If you are lucky enough to get something that has been serviced and is in good shape, you can buy two vintage heads for the price of a 59 handwired. Depends on what you are after.

Steve

been several months since i've watched, but the 1959HW were going a little less than $1500 then.

not sure what you're going for? but there are some deals around right now, and the HW isn't necessarily one of them.

  IMO...Crap ! POS !...transformers suck....Ive replaced 3 so far.....as well as 2 18 watt HW output transformers too.....go buy a metro 1959 from George....way...way.. better then Marshall. Also....I still like the old Marshall RI 1959 from the mid 90's....transformers and all.....also way better then the HW.

A couple of guys were saying the same thing about the OTs but I did not give them much credit, just this confirms what they were saying. I think they were using massive attenuation though, would that speed along the OTs blowing?

I had heard about lots failures with the 18/20w transformers, but not about the 1959. And mine held up ok, obviously, but I only had the one. Oh well, that's a shame...

Several guys on TGP were stating the same thing, one was that dolt Voodoosound aka The Great Pharaoh from HCAF days so I did not really listen.

Yeah but look at how many originals have blown transformers.....not really anything new. New ones have warranties anyway....

My Amp tech (who is a MetroForum Alumni) says the same thing.
All the recent 'reissue/handwired' Marshall amps get a thumbs down. :aww:

 When there where new??? Why would you buy a new amp....then have to replace the output??....like my friends have. I'm sure that they've fixed the problem..by now....but these amps don't sound better then the regular 1959......Then there is the other amp with the dual output transformer the..JTM45/100....Marshall will tell you you can run 1 cab with this amp....but that leaves 1 transformer with no load......but Marshall will tell you its...OK......its not!!....IMO the HW amps could have been a great amp but Marshall just...dropped the ball!

AND these days there are way better 1959 type amps to buy from better amp builders

I see allot of old Marshall's still working just fine after 30 years....so I don't get what you are saying about old transformers...my two old 72's are still just fine....and these things have been through allot.....my friend Sean plays one of them every weekend...never had a problem.
If they bought the amp new, it would have a warranty. They could have had them replaced if they were faulty. What's the big deal?

I'm sure you see alot of older marshalls with original transformers still working fine. I have three of them myself. I've seen plenty of old ones with blown OT's...I'm just saying that a blown Marshall OT is not that uncommon. I've blown a few myself over the years.

So you think its ok to sell crap...and yes an amp that blows up right after you buy it is crap.....then great...but I think that would piss off most people....like it did my friends. WTF the warranty makes this OK????
I don't suppose there was any pilot error involved in any of these? Probably wasnt tube related either right? Could have been a bad batch of transformers, tubes etc. Those amps could have been repaired or replaced under the warranty. They are pretty good about taking care of that stuff.....

Do you offer any warranty on your amps? Stuff happens, why are you all bent out of shape about it...

Damn, I have a reissue Marshall JTM 2x12 combo...should I replace the tranny before the kaboooom?

Seriously...I plan on doing a lot of gigging with this puppy.

And I'll say it...... if I was up to my neck in back orders on my own amp builds I wouldnt be wasting time arguing whether or not the Marshall HW's are a piece of crap. Thats just me though.

Can't comment on the transformer issue but they are definitely LOUD. Prob one of the loudest Marshalls I'd ever heard, lol. Can't see using it w/o an attenuator which might be a problem if this transformer issue is true.

Did you guys ever stop to think...maybe MC has actually had hands on experience with these amps and is trying to save people around here some heartache and hassle?
