I never had a chance to try one of these back in the day and I found a great deal on Ebay. It should be here no later than next Monday. I look forward to having some fun with it. Anyone else have one of these? Thoughts?

My all time favorite amp after my Herbert.
I've paired it with a Mesa Strategy 500 and it served me well for 7 years on stage.
Now it's still a great recording piece.

I used one for a number of years paired with a Mesa 2:90 and it sounded killer!

Honestly, that's probably the worst preamp I've evr played besides that carvin pre they had. The circuitry is basically a clean preamp running a distortion pedal circuit. Then again, maybe it's because I never liked any Marshall ever.
Honestly the Ada mp1 is better.

Not to rain on your parade, but I was never a fan. I thought it would be my be-all end-all live rig, but I always went back to heads. On a more positive note, there are many people who apparently get killer tones using these. Hopefully you love it! Good luck.

gtrwun, can you post more pics of the Tele style fiddle in your avatar ? I LOVE that damn thing...hope it's yours ! Thanks !!!

I had one, moved up to a JVM head and still miss the JMP1. Honestly, its a very very good preamp. It also sounds really good with 6l6 power amps.
U will enjoy it. Also, because ur getting a good deal, dont sell it!! I will buy another one soon.

I had a modded one for several years into a Marshall 50/50 power amp. Stupidly sold it to get a JVM. WIsh I still had it. The JMP-1 and my 5153 could cover every type of tune I like.

I had one with a Marshall 50/50 monobloc it was killer wish I never got rid of it..

I had one I used with a marshall 9005 100/100 power amp, a Gmajor, and two Bogner 412's. That shit was fucking glorious. Hate that I don't still have it.

A very nice sounding preamp, especially if you pair it up w/an el 34/34 dual. monoblock..It also sounds killer w/ a vht classic el34.Work with it, take your time with it and tweak it out from the factory presets. There are some major big name artists using these to this day. Some folks swap different tubes in it for various results.Theres also a lot of talk about modding it via voodoo amps..They are real nice people to work with.I love the stock version and will eventually have a stock one & modded one.

Man, u guys are making me rethink this preamp. I want to try it again now that my tastes for tone have matured with age and experience.

its really a great preamp, a workhorse. dont expect boutique tones, but its so good.
i dont care about the tubes being bulbs or whatever. it sounds great! It doesn't feel like a head, because its not!

Do you guys experience a hum from the audible him from the tranny?

My fave pre-amp, I have it next to my ADA-MP1 which is in close second. It has speaker emulation which is great for recording, all my songs are using it and the speaker emu. Just a warning, the cleans are garbage (personal opinion) the are lacking and weak... hence the ADA MP-1 to cover it haha

If your JMP-1 sounds better than your MP-1 you need to get your MP-1 serviced.

No. Its not. Gigged an ADA for years...first version stock. My buddy had a JMP 1.....would have traded him straight up in a heartbeat. But I'm a Marshall guy.....
