I had to go find this thing in the sea of youtube, fucking iconic

i remember the pedal was modified off of some ebay user kit? whats even more funny is that there isnt a single word mentioned about a modified pedal, all of these poor new marshall guys getting their hopes up thinking a JMP sounds like that with a boost

I remember watching that vid before, couldn't believe it was just a pedal in front great tone.

you know whats even more funny, i just noticed that is a run of the mill 5150 cabinet

the amplifier is 100% stock, there is another video of it somewhere of it being switched in/out with the pedal but i couldnt find it Steve. That is what is so hilarious about it, the modifications were a $20 kit off of some no-name user that he found and he didnt even know if it would work after he finished the modifications, and this is the result

in the description of the video, I said it was a modded pedal :)

i laugh at these posts sometimes because some people hear a stock boosted with the good OD pedal and it happens to sound like a ton of gain, everyone assumes its modded. you can get this sound even without a modded pedal or peamp folks on a stock Marshall. Especially with a Les Paul and the right pickups.

Hey ML,

What kind of Pedal Mod kit is that? I'm not usually big on 2203s or tube screamers, but I have to agree with the above posts, that really sounds nice. I'd like to have something nice and gainy to put in front of my Metro 1200 when I want to get a little heavier.

Derp!

Are we all going back to low gain then?

Most of the tones i've chased are 75 to 80, so most were done with a JMP!

Heres my stock 2203 JMP w/a boost.

The other video has more clarity and gain/ saturation and a non-pushed with a pedal sound. I am not a fan of Master Volume or JCM800's and I liked that first clip.
Picky, picky... :D i liked that first klip too, its got a total 80's vibe.........................................

This is about as RAW as i get.

Every compressed camera clip of high gain sounds almost the same to me. I'd like to hear this amp close mic'd with that pedal in front though..

70's Marshall JMP 2203 or 4 ....70's MXR Distortion + and ..Done
Yeah...thats really how simple it is but NOOOOOO We gotta have mods done, wait 3-4-6 months till there finished never knowing what the fuck we're getting when it does come back but...We've waited too fucking long and regardless of what it sounds like we think it's the second coming and blast it all over the internet via youtube which makes everything sound the same mostly so....We get the oooh's and ahhh's from our peers well..except Dave and then 2-3 weeks later..it's in the classifieds because we had a tragic dog lost it's fucking collar incident and need the money to replace it when the real truth is..the thing sounds and feels like shit but being as youtube video's can sometimes make things sound great..someone buys it only to think..WHAT THE FUCK!!? Then the cycle repeats itself over and over again and....I'm ok with that :D
