Thank you. I changed the title, as I thought I may have placed my question in the wrong sub-forum.1600. I traded for one last summer; then I traded it + cash for another amp that was worth 2200 a few months later. If the serial is above 3000(it would have the last preamp circuit version) and is mint, no need for new caps then maybe closer to 1800. Imo of course.
Looks like you changed your OP?
Double boosted it can get there. Great amps.
I've been using a few pedals, and it seems to respond well. I had Soldano preamp many years ago, and I've been trying to approximate that sound. They're really good for metal with a boost, and hi output pickups. I used to play one in a music store in Colorado I worked at after close super late. It could even do Metalcore with the right setup. It's a super versatile amp
I just mentioned EQ in the loop. Yup! I agree. I have a 4x12 cabinet, but the impedance doesn't match the combo.Through a closed back cab will do better for hard rock and metal than through the combo speaker. Also an Eq in the loop and a boost in front really help.
Do you have a Canadian version? If it’s US it should have 4,8, and 16 ohm out. Canadian are 4, 8. But you can mismatch as long as the amps out is lower than the cabinet impedance. Not the other way around.I just mentioned EQ in the loop. Yup! I agree. I have a 4x12 cabinet, but the impedance doesn't match the combo.
Mine is a Canadian version. Okay, cool... the cabinet has a 16 Ohm rating. I was using it with a SJ head that I sold. I thought about plugging the combo into it, but I didn't want to risk damaging it. I was told years ago to never to run a mismatched rig, so I stopped.Do you have a Canadian version? Yeah, I can hear that... but, I think most small 1x12 combo amps are meant for PA system miking. If not, they work well that way.I was always pretty non-plussed about mine as the combo cab sounds boxy as hell and just left it at the back of the amp pile for years. When I plugged it into a 4x12 (v30) the thing really woke up and pushes an amazing mount of grunt for a small 50w.
I first bought one back in 2011, before I was here on RT...I'd have the amp next to my cab on the side, no one could see what I was using lol..had more than one guy come up and ask me if it was an AXE fx lol since they couldn't see the amp. This was a black tolex from 88. I ran it through G12 65s and V30s.
