cool...miller is a good player...just discovered him and tom quayle recently...been woodshedding myself lately.

Yeah, I've been following Tom Quayle; Rick Graham and consorts since their early beginning. Those guys had really a big influence on me somehow and have kept me inspired and willing for quite some time now. They're just soooo good.

However I sometimes think those guys are more teachers than performers to me, if you know what I mean. They're really disciplined and have that amazing control of the instrument I'm so jaleous of, but they don't perform or release enough "real music" besides a youtube activity. I respect their skills and learn so much from them, but there are guitarists like Justin Derrico or Guthrie Govan who also keep playing and sharing music live. And since music is about sharing, I think it also important guitarists keep performing. Don't you think?
That being said, I probably watch videos from those guys mostly everyday... Haha

Its just so hard to make money putting out music these days, that's why I think they are concentrating on what they are doing now...the youtube thing and teaching, tutorials, jamtracks. Its the big thing right now...everybody and their grandma are doing it.
Even Govan is still doing a lot of this...a guitarists guitar player only gets exposure from us and we are not enough to make these people rich only with one thing. Unless your like Derrico playing for big acts....its a living but It aint the 80s no more....

You're totally right, man! Although I wish R Graham and T Quayle would release more music.

Govan is still playing a lot. And everywhere around the globe. Music industry has changed since the 80's, that's right. But there aren't just big areas. Youtube has made the guitar quite popular I think. It has never been so easy to pick up the instrument and learn a bit for free online. And look at all those famous youtube guys making clinics all around the globe. There are strong guitar communities all around the globe.
But there's just so much than teaching to music. It's not like it's a dead art that's supposed to be taught only. It should mostly be experienced live. Otherwise we'll lose it. New releases also help spread the virus. And good guitar based music (rock, pop, metal, jazz... whatever style you like to play) is what made the guitar so popular. It would be terrific to get a release from Tom Quayle.

Anyway... Just repeating myself here. I'm totally down with you on this.
