This might be a stupid question but I don't really know a lot about pleking guitars.
If you have a guitar that is pleked and you then change gauges, does the fact that the guitar was pleked with a different gauge moot the point of having it pleked all together?

My understanding is that pleking a guitar sets it up for the most optimal neck curvature and and string height. Changing the string gauges will then change the tension on the neck causing it to bow or curve and the different gauge (thickness) will make a difference in how far off the neck the string sits.

Bottom line for me is that I am thinking of getting a guitar that is pleked and set up for 10-46 but I use 9-42 and want to know if then changing to 9s will make a difference. Hope my explanation was clear for a subject that I don't clearly understand myself. thanks.

Plek is fret leveling, has nothing to do with what gauge string you use. I am going to guess that the relief of the neck is set first before it hits the plek machine so after string change get the same relief and it should play great.

i see understood thank you for the info...

now will I pull the trigger on that guitar...
