Mercury transformers a big upgrade for dual rectos?

My local CL has a very clean dual rec that has the trannys changed out for merc's. Nice looking 3channel but they want $1200 for it. I can find duals for $7-800 most of the time. Are the upgraded trannys worth the extra scratch?? Don't want to lowball but don't want to pay $4-500 more for a recto either.

300 or so for a transformer unless it has the power also. they make a difference, not huge but real. whether youll like it more is still up in the air. it will just be different.

Worth all that. I'll send him a lowball offer, but I already have a line on a dual for 7.
