These guys just have the ultimate tones.. Love it!
King Diamond solo as well:
Last time I saw either was MF "9" tour, their last album. First time I heard Jeff Loomis in the flesh, Nevermore opened up. That concert kicked major ass! Hank Shermann was playing through a Laney GH100L and Marshall 4x12... I can't be certain, but I could swear Mike Wead was playing through a Line 6 Flextone Head!Saw the king a couple years ago and he was sounding great. I had heard he’d been using the backup singer to pad his vocals but it sounded to me like she was just doing the harmonies off the record and the King could still hit the high’s just fine.

Most definitely. They were a huge influence on Slayer's Hell Awaits album and Metallica as well...the stories of Metallica working on and recording Ride The Lightning at Sweet Silence next door to Mercyful Fate’s rehearsal room and getting to know King and the band. Then their influence on extreme metal can go on and on, too...Great band and those early albums and EPs are some of my all-time favorites. They deserve more credit for the creating of metal
The Oath is a frequent flyer in my stereo for sure. The title track is probably my favorite.
THIS. Both bands had awesome tone. King always landed kick ass drummers too. He is also unique in a world full of clones.MF/KD = Double GOAT!
