Does the JP2C have the same problem?
Not at all. I've had a very early and also a current JP. They are great amps and if you didn't also own a C+, or need that vintage raw thing, one could be very happy with it. Of all the modern Marks it was the best in the live band as well. I ended up selling them for other reasons though.

I do think it's interesting this modern crop of 100W Mesas- the TC, Badlander, and VII- none of them have ass or push air.

I'm sure if you turn them up loud enough they'll push air?? with the bass cranked of course. I find most 60+ watt tube amps do. Also, the Badlander is an excellent amp for live use, it sits in the mix perfectly and is very articulate. I think Lamb Of God did their latest album with a Badlander and the tone is killer.

Agreed. My VII do just fine in band mix too.

I agree that the Badlander has great tone & sits very well in the live mix. Killer lead tone as well. In a 2 guitar band it may have been a keeper.

In my 1 guitar band they do not deliver the levels of push I'm looking for, though.

At one point I A/Bd the MkIV and the MkVII at volume, and the VII had all the push of a Helix. It was a HUGE difference.

I’d love to hear a Badlander with a resonance mod.
Better yet a BL with resonance through an M180.

Wow, that's weird that the VII performs so badly in a band. It's got those big ass transformers too but the IV at band volume still killed it hey? I was seriously considering a VII too, but I may have to scrap that idea and maybe go for a JP2C?? Or get another old Mark, like another III just for the hell of it. Can't afford a IIc+, and probably won't for a long time.

I’ve had all marks but a 2b and before. Do the judgement yourself. It’s simple not how I or many others think of it.

Ya, that's got plenty of low end to it. Cuts through alright too, even with a fairy scooped tone. There's some cool riffs in that tune.
