Hey guys, I've been casually browsing Reverb and Kijiji for Mesa Boogie Mark III's lately. I'm mainly looking at DRG blue stripes. I know they come in 60 watt models as well as the Coliseum heads, but is the other model 75 or 85 watts? Can't find much info on it.

To my knowledge you have the following:

DRG are 75W simul-class, reverb, graphic EQ
SRG is 60W non-simul-class, reverb, graphic EQ
HRG is 100W, reverb, graphic EQ

My coliseum was a fully loaded KDRG mark III meaning 150W simul-class, reverb, graphic EQ. It was sent to Mesa and converted to KRG meaning 180W pentode non simul-class, reverb, graphic EQ along with the R2 mod and +/++ switchable.

DRG's have been said to be 75 or 85w

Blue Stripe DRG is 75W. It is probably poorly written description.
OK, great thanks! I wish I had known that sooner. A guy on another forum offered me his blue stripe DRG a few months ago, and I turned it down because he said it was 60 watt. Oh well, next time haha

Just ask him again, maybe offer still stands

I’m still not sure what mine is rated at. It’s simul-class supposedly but without the AB/A switch but it has the Full/half power switch in front ??‍♂️

I think they didn't have faceplates for Simulclass longheads. Check the output transformer. 562100 is 100W class A/B, and 562003 is 75W Simulclass.

The switch on Simulclass amps is actually full power or Class A (just outer tubes running at 15W).

It's crazy how many variations there are of the older Mark amps! I thought only Coliseum models were long heads, that's cool

Also on the subject of Mark III's, does having the EQ switch set to 'EQ In' turn the GEQ on?

Just to add; if you have a Coli with EL34s for the outer pair the amp is 150w; vs 180w for all 6L6. These are permanent and not switchable between tube types unless someone modded it. This was the case with the 2B Coli, and C+ Coli I had.

Well, actually not quite. This is what Mike B told me about the C+ simul Coli. You can put 6L6’s or EL34’s in the middle sockets if you wish.

The non simul Coli is 180W and can only take 6L6’s though.

You are correct. I think I was thinking of the S 400 I had, which could run EL34s in the outer pair/2 pairs.
It's been awhile lol.
On my old 2B to 2C+ conversion, Mike gave me the option of hard wiring 34s into 2 of the 6 tube sockets. Might have been the outer pair though? It was not a Simul however.

That makes sense. I don’t think simul-class was introduced until the very end of the IIB. So it might have not been possible to make it a full simul? Either way, both simul and non simul Colis are awesome ??
