I thought the clip sounded good. I am not sure how to get that one, I assume you used a delay and recording the leads twice, with one being the harmony part

How does the bass response of the mark V compare with the mark IV? I sometimes find the mark IV to be lacking in bass without the EQ compared to some of my other amps, depends alot on the guitar of course....

I tried to do the clip a bit how Tom Scholz did. When the solo starts it's 2 guitars playing the same exact thing panned hard L/R. There's some reverb and i added a little delay in one section. There's 2 solos where it's just 1 guitar by itself. And towards the end there's a few harmonies.

That sounded great. I tried a MkV locally to see how it stood up to my C+. Nice amp but doesn't have quite the tone or the feel mostly.
But I can't see that modded Marshall standing up to that tone. I'd grab a Mk III or a IIc and get a C+ upgrade. Don't care for the Mk IV though. Too smooth or something and it doesn't cut through as well. YMMV

Yeah, Boogie claims the V has the same exact circuitry as the IIC+. But they claim a lot of bullshit, the Mark V manual is full of a lot of marketing nonsense.

For me it was pretty obvious from the start the V and IIC+ do NOT have the same circuitry. All push/pulls eliminated and the IIC+'s Volume 1 & Lead Drive controls paired down to a single gain control ? All the micro-tweakability of the IIC+ gone !

I'll bet the V'S reverb doesn't interact with the lead channel gain voicing like it does on the C + as well.

Clearly not the same, and i don't care what Doug West or anyone else from says. Since there's no lead drive knob on the Mark V they claim it has the same sound a lead drive knob fixed at 7.5. And yes, having everything tied to the gain knob is probably correct, and pretty lame. And they modeled the tone of the IIC+ mode from a non-EQ IIC+ because Doug West claims he has a Non-EQ IIC+ that's the best sounding IIC+ he's heard. Funny, my old 60 watt IIC+ with EQ SMOKED the Mark V IIC+ for what i like to hear.

The Mark V on it's own is a decent amp, just not what Boogie is making it out to be. All IMHO.

Im being honest when i say this danny, i thought your clip and playing was great, its too bad the amp didnt work out for you, definately one of the better mkv clips i have heard, i bet it helps sell a few amps.

Thanks, i listen back and i guess it sounds decent. Have you ever played a IIC+? The feel and tone is different and they really didn't capture it IMHO.
