I like my Rev 2 through the recto cab I have. Definitely lotta a low end but doesn't overwhelm me. I also have a Bogner 2x12 a Diezel and a Vader cab. It is also the best sounding cab I have for recording.

$250... That is awesome.

Yeah, a whole 4x12 with V30's for cheaper than some people ask for a pair of speakers alone. OMG the thing is heavy. I found some guy on Craiglist, he said he was moving and needed it sold this week so he lowered his price. He also gave me a Peavey Solid State amp, I think it's broke though. Probably sounds like ass when it's not broke though. :D
Dang, I thought the Traditional I just got for $400 was a good deal. Sliced.

Best price I have heard. Great deals show up sometimes. You could probably get double what you got it for. I have all three versions of the V30 from that era and prefer the Mesa V30. Steve Fryette wrote about the differences on the Fryette Forum a few years ago if your interested. The Mesa cabs sound great. I am a bit jealous actually... :]

Yeah I got the OS slant, it's heavy as fuck   gotta be 90-100 lbs

Thanks for answering six years later.

Problem is I don't care anymore.

Seriously that is good to know regarding 280 vs 240 watts. I love the old cabs with the straight cab/slant baffle. I'm actually looking for one now.

Holy necrobump.

I was going to reply directly to the OP but that was 6 years ago.

IMO The OS Recto cab hype is not that it is a good cab. The hype I heard is that it is too boomy and from my experience that hold true. It did sound good BUT it was boomy as hell. I can see it working with some amps that lack in the oomph department but to the poster who said it sounded great with the Rev 2???? Are you sure it was the OS Mesa you played through?

Even with my bass on zero it was very boomy and the low end projection/frequency was just all bad.

It is NOT the Vintage 30's they are great speakers for rock/metal. They may sound weird when you are A/B ing them to other speakers on youtube but they are great speakers and for metal they are pretty much the standard imo. You just need the right cab to compliment them or to NOT alter their sound in a bad way.

We had an ampfest years ago and some of you may remember LOLgreg who I don't think visits here anymore. Anyway, we had a bunch of cabs at his house including a Mills which was all the hype some 8 years ago. I thought his OS Mesa was the best sounding cab there. BUT, an Engl with V30's sounded great as did an old Marshall with old G1280's that Psycodave brought. I was ALWAYS under the impression that the traditional was a better sounding cab but that ampfest had me rethink things.
