I am going to be travelling to the middle of nowhere and recording somewhere and they have a Mesa "SOB" amp as their "house amp" that I can use. I am in a situation where I really cannot bring much gear (without spending a ton of money shipping)....does anyone have any experience with this amp? Can it do a good clean and take a boost decently for just simple light OD tones? I don't need a world beating sound, just a basic good tone I can use.

I've heard of them but don't know much about them sorry. I think they are like the MarkI? (think Santana smooth lead tones). I could be wrong though.

However, ANY Mark series Mesa/Boogie can do a good clean tone and take a boost for overdrive. You'll only go wrong if you crank the bass when the gain is turned up!

Plug into input 2 and it's very similar to a Fender. Input 1 is a bit hotter. Decent pedal and you should be fine.
