Hey guys. While it does have its limitations, my band just recorded this song (in my garage FWIW) and all my guitar parts were done with the Cab Clone out on my Mark Five 35. I wanted to share because I thought that in this case the tone was actually pretty solid. Check it out, what do you think?

Honestly it sounds better than I thought it would have. But if I were doing an album i'd consider picking up a two notes captor with some celestion plus IRs.

It is alright. I think with some polishing in a DAW it would work. The playing is solid.

i would probably try a different IR thing to be completely honest.

but you have a good song, thats that real fight.

cheers!

Thanks guys. The other songs we're working on will be recorded traditionally, this one was an experiment. You guys are way, way tougher critics than most listeners so I appreciate the feedback. Songwriting & recording is definitely a new journey for me.

I was planning on doing a mix of the tc50 cab clone out and a mic/speak on my next demo in a couple weeks. I think it sounded better than I thought. Any other ideas of a different ways to record with them?

My first time around I did a blend of the Cab Clone & mic'd 2x12 vert. I did the CC panned hard left / right and a third channel with the V30s running right down the center. That did sound pretty good. Ended up not using it but it's an idea.

So here's the second song we've finished. Originally I did the whole thing with the CC, but the chugging just did not sound right. That was the main limitation I've come across with the CC. So, I left the intro with the CC part, and re-recorded all the main parts (including chugging) with my Triple. Still working on my skills to make it sound as heavy on the recording as it does in the room, but overall I think it came out much better.

I like having lots of tools in the tool box- makes it so I can really try different combinations & see what works best with each song. I want some tonal variety!
