IF I were still at TGP, I would add this to my sig there. PRICELESS, and too true.

Wait, did they discontinue the Ace as well or the Trident? I still see the Stiletto on their website.

The trident is discontinued. There is nothing on the website stating deuce is out, e.g. http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/ ... oDeuce.htm

The amp is specifically designed for leads and cutting thru the mix. It doesn't sound "right" as a standalone practice amp. So in that case you cut the presence and treble.

it doesn't have enough bass on tap IMHO and that's why it's harder to use it for metal applications.

I can't see them selling many. The used market is littered with them at $1000 and under. I liked the Deuce II.

i love the amp,, of course i dont use mesa tubes and my power tubes measure around 32/33 mA so i sound gooooooooooood

On a more serious note, I think the Electrodyne and Royal Atlantic essentially ended the Stilleto's run.

Hey guys,
Thats too bad. One of my main amps is a Stiletto Deuce and I get more than enough bottom. One of my fav amps. In fact, I like the Stiletto one, not the two.

I use GT -EL34LS tubes in a 7# for the power tubes, and my pre amp tubes are 5751s. Very Marshall like. We do a lot of AC/DC and Aerosmith, and my tone gets close to that Malcolm type sound . Matching the tubes to the amp can make a big difference in the tone for sure.

Yeah you gotta go with some hotter tubes in these. I measured the stock Mesa tubes and it was somewhere around 17 ma. I threw in some hotter E34Ls that came in at 34ma and it was a different amp. Either some proper tubes or a bias mod is a must in these.

The Deuce 1's can found pretty cheap. I wonder how Mod-friendly that amp is? Has anyone ripped one of these things apart. I think with a few changes it could be a rippin amp.

yeah, you'd think so....

...but I've never heard of a modded Stiletto. I'd be willing to bet Mr. Fortin and others could do something.

Nah, I want to see the guts ripped out of this thing and rearranged by someone like Fortin. You know, to show old Randy how he should have made this amp in the first place.
