first they have to have 6 revisions, each designated with a different color.

:) Most of that happened with the Mark III. Besides there is several versions of the Stiletto .... I can think of 6 ....more than 6 I would guess. I kind of see some of the newer amps they make now kind as revisions of the Stiletto.

I have the Stiletto Ace combo. I made a thread about how I can't dial it in. I think I may need to try some hotter tubes in it. I have RFT's in the power section now but have not measured the bias yet. The messed up thing is that you have to take it out of the chassis to use the bias rite in it, which totally bites. I bet you anything it's biased cold. I'll probably do that this weekend. The amp isnt terrible but it just sucks that I have to work this hard to get it sounding right. You don't want an amp you "can live with" you want an amp that you want to play, all the time! I'm probably going to sell it.

I might get a Deuce someday. Always liked the stage II, myself.

And this dude makes the Stage 1 sound pretty tasty. Not sure how he's getting that nice, woody chunk out of it.

more low end

Weber used to make these right angle sockets so you could bias without pull the chassis. If you are going to keep the amp, you might check to see if they still have them.

I had a stage 1 and thought it was a great amp. I got a trade offer that was too good to turn down otherwise I would probably still have it. I preferred it to the stage 2 as it was more open/less compressed. I cut through a mix as well as anything I've heard.
IIRC the tone controls were not really intuitive...I think I had some pretty strange looking settings by most standards in order to get to the goods.

Dude, I must have read this title 100 times already and chuckled every time   Yup, I'm perpetually 12 years old :D

I'll look into those!

I use to have a Deuce Stage I
The channel one is a lot bright and compressed.
The channel 2 is great and worth the money. Only with this channel you have a bigger range of tones than a JCM800 for the same price and with a very good Loop FX. IMHO.

I just sold it because I got a PT-100, if don't, I would be very satisfied with 80's Hard Rock stuff it provides.

I agree. For the money it's a great amp with a lot of cool features and a great FX loop. I'd have kept my Stage II but I got offered a Mark 4 in trade and couldn't turn that down.

it actually has way more features than a JCM800 and better build quality/components than newer Marshalls. Doesn't really have that Marshall crunch but fluid drive mode is great and cleans are good for EL34 amp (not as good as Mark V with EL34s however).

you have to spend some time with it. it's not really a metal amp but gets in that space, and it's good for blues and rock IMHO. cuts thru great (better than any other amp?) doesn't sound optimal as a standalone practice amp IMO. major complaint is that it doesn't have enough balls/bass even with new JJ E34L's. it's really a lead amp IMHO.

Problem is it doesn't sound like an 800 ;)

With the sound in the video clips posted above and the dude gives his settings...I wouldn't mind another go 'round with one

i called mesa customer service about the "crunch" modes in both channels and complained how they are not crunch like Marshall crunch. He said "there's no definition of crunch" and I'm like yes there is, marshall jcm 800. get with it.

 I can think of lots of amps that "crunch" that do not sound like a JCM800 ?.... Hiwatt, Orange, Marshall Super Lead, etc... ???

:) Mesa never suggested the Stiletto sounds like Marshall .... let alone the JCM800....

Their whole advertising campaign for the Stiletto was all about "that classic British EL34 sound" What do you suppose they were referring too?

What they said"that classic British EL34 sound" .... I named a few of the amps known for that sound above. There are several others vintage and modern. Marshall is only one example of that kind of sound. Hiwatt and Orange do not sound like Marshall's either. You know what they say about assume ... :)

I have a Stage I Deuce and that's pretty much one of the main tones I will use similiar to the video. BB Preamp most likely. I also use a Blackstone Appliances Mosfet OD or Fulltone Fulldrive 2. I love the Stage I Series. Thank god not many others seem to, so I'll always be able to get a replacement cheap if I need to in the future..... :D

Yeah, Orange and Hiwatt is the classic British El34 sound everyone is after and trying to clone.
