How's the Master Volume on them?

Again not an expert but it semed extremely usable. The amp sounded great from low low volume to the little bit I did get the volume up briefly.

I find the master volume seems to have a little bit different behavior depending on whether you switch to 45w or 90w. In 90w, there's a spot from the 0 (around 7:00), to maybe just 5% up, where the amp seems to continue to "open up", or sound better and hit a wider swath of frequencies as you volume up. Once you get to that 5% or so volume, which, like all Mesas, is quite loud, it's fairly linear volume only afterwards.

I play it at 45w at home, which carries a very similar tone across all channels, but lets me hear a fuller tone at lower volume while playing at home. I play in a tiled finished basement, no carpeting, so the sound is loud and pushes all up through the house.

I gigged it once so far and at 90w turned it up roughly halfway on the master volume. Good god was it loud, this thing has as much bass response as my 4x12 oversized cab. A guitar player coworker in the crowd said I was EQ'd a bit "boomy", but otherwise he was really happy with the tone.

Cool amp. My 1x12 combo sounded great. My only complaint was not quite enough gain for me and a very stiff feel. It was very clear and one of those 'shows your mistakes' amps. I traded mine for a Tourmaster head and Egnater 4x12 cab. The ED has a better quality tone and has that warm tube tone that the Tourmaster lacks but the Egnater has a nice feel to it and syrupy lead tones. A trade off but overall I am happier with the Tourmaster.......but damn that ED sounded great..

I have a vid on youtube somewhere of how heavy the ED can get.... search for 'electradyne cranked'. First part of the vid is boosted with my Yngwie strat playing V.H. Unchained and with electroharmonix el34s in it and the second half, some detuned metal riffs and wanking, is my explorer with EMG81, not boosted and with the Mesa branded 6l6 tubes in it. I thought the amp always sounded better without boost, whatever guitar I used. Maybe I need a better boost. It's a Seymour Duncan pickup booster

I love mine. It's a great amp for vintage stuff and it can do some higher gain but not metal.
The master volume is quite useable.
I played one gig with it and it held its own versus the Mark IV.
it doesn't have the fluid lead of the Mark IV without a boost.

Great amp!

This is the one Boogie than non Boogie guys might like best. I think it's pretty unique in the Boogie line up. This one actually did what the Stiletto promised to do... great clean with a british style gain/crunch. Try it. Thats all I'm saying.

For rhythm, you want that stiff unforgiving Plexi feel. For leads, just hit it with a Maxon OD-808 or similar and it will give you the feel you desire.

The ED does sound awesome boosted, very juicy sounding amp, great clean. Makes a great bass amp too.
