Does anybody know who has the best pricing on these heads in Canada right now? My local dealer just got one in which is great since I was in the market, but they want $3500 for the thing. That seems to be the going rate and even with our poor dollar that is just absolutely absurd.

They'll price match any price I can find in Canada.

If anybody finds me a cheaper price they'll be my hero forever, I've been scouring the net for a while now and can't find anything.

Thanks.

There's one for sale here in the classifieds..maybe he'd ship it up to you?

$3500 is insane, even in maple bucks.

That's the wonders of Canada for you. Dollar is worthless and everyone uses it as an excuse to jack up prices on everything ridiculous amounts over the exchange rate differences. Meanwhile we pay some of the highest taxes in the world and have universally mediocre wages.

I think when these came out they were around $2800, and they came out when the dollar was pretty much just as poor.

Oh well, might just have to buy from the states, every amp I've ever owned I ended up importing in the end.

I order stuff from the US sites and get it shipped to a store/post office on the US side and drive across and pick it up. Not sure where you are located so that may or may not be an option.

Some stores here in Canada have them at 3699. The cheapest I've seen is the 3499.

3499 converted to USD is about 2700 USD. Sweetwater has em for 2499 USD (3227 CDN).. so it's not TERRIBLY out of line. I bet you could negotiate a bit but no dealer is going to drop down to below that 3227 CDN price I bet.

This is the price we have in QC city!

We are screwed in Canada for gear right now because of exchange rate etc.
A Duncan JB is $118 + 13% tax. I might as well order a Bare Knuckle instead.

A few years back when we were at par, a lot of gear was cheaper here than the US, especially Marshalls.

Is this really any cheaper? Don't you still have to pay taxes at the border? Add the cost of driving there and back plus having to stay over, I don't know...

In this case if someone got the AMP from sweetwater.. here is what the cost would be.

2499 from sweetwater = 3216 CDN, assuming free shipping to somewhere close to the border.
3216 * 1.13 (HST at border) = 3634 CDN.
Let's say 3 hour drive each way so we'll call it $50 in gas. Total $3684 CDN.

Versus buying in Canada from cosmomusic.ca $3499 CDN *1.13 = 3953.

3953-3684 = Saved about $270, assuming you value time at 0$ per hour. Value your time at $20 per hour ($120 total for the drive time) now you're saving a grand total of $150.

If you tried to NOT declare at the border.. you'd save some money (the HST) but is it worth the risk?

Here in Germany the amp costs 3900€. That's about 4400USD.
Sweetwater price is 2500USD.

:D

Saw it a bit too late. Denmark beats us.

You can haggle with them.

Source: I'm a dealer and people haggle with us all the time.

Yup....buying from the US and living up here can really suck sometimes. However, if the person or retailer selling you something declares a lower value for you, you can really save. There is some risk involved with that though. I have been lucky with that route. Bryan sent my Bogner up here and I had to pay zero! Along with the great deal he gave me on an absolutely mint amp, I saved close to $1500!

With the dollar being the way it is now, many times it just isn't worth it.

Not to mention that any warranty claims might be tricky.

I have heard a few people that have had to make warranty claims on various products, ultimately had to send it back to the US. So there is that too.

Well I talked to them today and they offered to let me try it out for the weekend free. I'll give it a run and see if they can knock 10% off the price for me if I love it. They've given me some great deals in the past.

I never realized these were so pricey in the states as well. It's not a horribly ridiculous price considering the dollar, but it's still pretty bonkers.

Thanks guys.

Ya really depends where you are. I'm 45 mins from border store. So I drive down. Fill up on cheaper gas (so another save) and pick up gear. Have to pay taxes but you're paying less tax since the price is lower. So a few hundred bucks saving for a 2 hr Sunday drive is worth it for me ;)

Yep I've done it too messenger. In this case if you live that close you could save around $300CDN on a JP2C. That's worth it to me.

Only issue might be warranty coverage.. but mesa is AWESOME (build quality AND warranty coverage) so no need to worry where you buy it.

Also.. cosmomusic.ca got one of the rarer, blinged up and signed Jp2C heads in. $4899 CDN.

About the warranty I'd think you'd be able to bring it to any Mesa certified tech. I did that with a Peavey once.
