Hey all,

I just received a Mesa JP2C. I was expecting it to be significantly louder for a 100W amp, I am wondering is this is really just the taper of the master volumes. My ENGL Iron Ball or say my Wizard are screaming at 10:00 on the volume, while this amp still seems more like bedroom volumes. at 10:30 where Mesa suggests running the volume this would barely be gig volume. ANywyas just reaching out to see what others have experienced. The amp seems fine otherwise so just wanted to confirm with other users, thanks dudes!

There's a 100-60W switch, but it should still be deafeningly loud even with power scaling.

Can you swap some other power tubes in?

Yep... this is normal. Mine is the same way. You can crank it up to around 10:30 or so on the channel 3... with the gain cranked... and still not get super loud. Bought mine brand-new... and another I tried in a shop was the same way. I actually like the slow taper volume pots... beside better low volume tones, it prevents that accidental nudge that’ll blow your windows out.

I think I pushed my VH4 just past noon on the master vol once at a band practice and virtually made everyone in the county prolapse.
