Hi all,

Seems like there are lots of Mark users here, and I assume most of us are metal heads. So what cabs are you using with them?

Mesas love V30s. Any quality V30 cab like Mesa, Bogner, Diezel, Rivera will sound killer. I also have a metal grill Mesa with C90s/EVs that might even be better than the V30 cabs for metal. But both are killer.

Yeah I have the metal grill 2x12 with the same speaker combo! It sounds huge, punchy and tight! I like the Recto cabs as well.

I had the same, but with 2 EVs. I like the C90/EV combo much better. Once you get some volume going through that cab, it’s punishing

While the Mesa cabs with their respective V30's is a sure bet, I've found Greenbacks also sound awesome with the Marks. I recently loaded my Emperor 2x12 offset with an M-65 Creamback and a Mesa V30 and it really sounds incredible.

So is the oversized Recto 4x12 a descent match? Not too boomy with the Mark?
The oversize is just a tad looser than the smaller traditional cab; but not loose by any means. Both are tight and sound killer. For a cheaper option check out the Rivera V30 cabs. They are constructed like Bogner with the batting on the back panel. I had one and it was almost identical in tone to the Mesa traditional that was right next to it

Ive never had the opportunity to try out a traditional as they are not as prevalent as the OS. I agree there is a bit of give on the OS but still tracks fine.

Any Mark I’ve had also loves 65s. I’ve had at least one 65 cab here for about 9 yrs. might be my favorite speaker

Interesting. The one 4x12 I have right now is an old 1960a with the G12-65s. It does sound good with the Mark type amps IME, so maybe the grass isn't greener elsewhere.

So do you guys just run them with 16 ohm cabs without worrying about the mismatch?

Yep, this has been discussed many times and while the tone will vary slightly from a "proper" match, it is a non issue.

I have a mark iv and I'm using a KSR 2x12 with a v30 and a creamback 75. Also a Marshall 1936 with vintage v30's. Not sure which I like better.
