I have a Mark V and have this cabinet that has custom voiced Egnater Celestion Elite 80 for speakers which got rated very well.

I wanted something small for home use so wanted just a 2x12.

I just cannot seem to squeeze the right sound out of this thing, is it the cabinet or is it me?
I have new EL34's in it, have dialed it to anything from Petrucci's to many other combinations.

Anyone have this cabinet and/or speakers? Do I need to throw V30's in it, get a new cabinet...
Otherwise I think I will stick with the 5150iii instead and get rid of the Mark.

Dump the EL34's and keep it closed back. Keep in mind that you have a stage worth amp volume wise. Perhaps the 10 watt settings for bedroom use would yield more forgiving tones.

The mkv sounds best through a orange cab with v30's at 16 ohms trust me

6L6's for sure, and V30 as noted above. I run my JP-2C into an Orange 4x12 and it's crazy good.

-the best sounding MARK V I ever heard was through a MARSHALL 8X10-(the mid-sized one)-

The 16 ohms really helps spread the sound and some mesa cabs that were mass produced cheaply are out there and sounder thin and harsh if I ever go back to the MarkV I'm getting an orange cab

Got a chance to hear the difference and I guess I am not made for the Mesa's, really wanted to like it but it is not for me.
I will stick to the 5150.

Cannot throw it up here yet as it looks like I need more posts but will throw it up on Reverb. Open to trades, especially for guitars.

Thank you all for the feedback and advice.
