Alright... I hear so much about these being Mesa's true hidden gem amps, ect. Which one out of the 2 has more of that "secret sauce" to it?

I think most other people here will say the Tremoverb sounds better, but I've owned both and I personally liked the Rectoverb better.

I played a Tremoverb as my main live rig for 15 years. Was a fantastic sounding amp - hugely versatile, nice trem and reverb. I just grew out of the thick Mesa sound and wanted to get back to more of a Marshall-style tone.

I've had both and they are similar in that they both get the recto tone. The tremoverb has the blues mode which is a very good dynamic mode that goes from a good pushed clean all the way to hard rock with the volume on your guitar. There are also some more options on the tremoverb such as channel cloning. I felt the cleans were better on the Tremoverb too. Tremoverbs are a great value as they are fairly inexpensive and offer a lot of tone for the money.

TREMOVERB... Way more mojo esp if your in a band... The 50watt mesas have no head room IMO compared to the 100 watters. I have tossed every single 50 watt recto I have owned in 5 min because of this...

G.

Tverb. I have owned both and the Tverb owned the Rectoverb IMHO.

only owned the rectoverb but by vitrue of the tverb having TUBE rectifiers I would choose the Tverb

TREMOVERB!!!!!!!!!!!  I still say its the best amp Mesa has EVER made.

Thank you guys... I was leaning towards the Tverb anyways, and this helped solidify my decision for me!

Tossed my tremoverb like a salad. I LOVED my rectoverb series II 1X12 combo though. With regards to having no headroom, my old band CRINGED when I brought out the Rectoverb. It had SO much volume on tap--louder than most 100 watt tube head/4X12 set ups!

Oh yes... since you opened up that topic, what are the differences between the series of these amps? I have a guy who tells me that he just bought his tremoverb new about 2 years ago... its a 100 watt head in the wheat grill version, is this head still made? If so... is this a series 2 amp, and is it better or different than the series one? Hey Robo... what didnt you like about the tremoverb? Which series tremoverb did you have and was it 100 watts? Did you change tubes around ect? Also I forgot to ask, is the only difference between the tverb and rverb the effects? Seems like the tverb also has reverb as well, but does the rectoverb have the blues channel modes?

to my knowledge, the Tremoverb hasn't been made in a long time, so I doubt he bought it "new" 2 years ago.

Couple of things. There were never two series of Tremoverbs. There were two series of rectoverbs. There are older styled tremoverbs with different knobs and detatched/attached power cord differences, but the features were basically the same. The rectoverb series II added a mode to the clean channel ("Pushed" I think? It's been a while since I had it.)

The tremoverb has not been made for well over 5 years now. I'm not sure when the discontinued them, but it was early in 2000. All tremoverbs are 100 watts. The rectoverbs are 50 watts. Headroom was an issue for me on the clean channel at loud volumes with the rectoverb. It is not a pristine clean at that point.

Look for one of the older/original T-Verbs with the attached power cord and pointer-style chrome knobs.

In this case, Older = Better

I had the 2X12 combo version of the tremoverb and the 1x12 combo of the rectoverb. I liked both the clean and dirty channels more on the rectoverb personally. The middle mode of the dirty channel on the rectoverb was where it was at for me. The clean was clean too. Not breaking up unless I set it up that way. The tremoverb's clean sounded a bit flat although it should have been the same/similar. The tremo dirty was more dual rectoish and more abrasive to my ears. The recto sounded smoother and fit my plaing more. THe tremo needed WAY more volume to begin to sound good as well (basically gig volume). Different strokes for different folks. To tell you where my head is at, I like the Mesa Mark's, TriAxis, Rectoverb Series II, Road King I (or Series II) and Subway Rocket. These are my fave Mesa tones.

I had the wheat grill version with the non-pointer knobs and loved it. I didn't like the pointer knobs for some reason. They just didn't look right to me. I know, that does nothing for the tone but the mental image bothered me for some reason.

I still say get one of the older ones. If the knobs bother you, replace 'em. The older ones have mojo that I just have never heard in the later versions.....
