I was tinkering around with my modded Jet City 20 and decided to try out the VFE Pinball and Standout. I grant you iPhone and recorded. I’m using a 2006 Charvel pointy loaded with a Suhr Aldrich pickup. Feel free to waste a minute of your life listening to my bullshit playing.

I have not tried the Tilt. How do you like it ?

Nice tone. Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the pedals cost more than the amp? Lololok. Nice playing too.

It’s cool. It shines at keeping the amps original tone if wanted. I have it set to be closer to the Standout’s mid bump.

swamptrashstompboxes- yeah, the pedals are worth as much as the amp.  The amp crushes though.

Love this clip man. Especially how you pull your bends back a half tone, I do that

Very nice! That amp does sound great on it's own but the pedals hit that front end nice and hard.

Haha. Thanks. I was just messing around. I’ve always loved cranking on the bar.

fek- the JCA20 amp really rips, but these VFE pedals really shine. Sadly they aren’t making anymore pedals

Thank you for the clip. How would you compare the Pinball to the Standout when it comes to tightening up the low end with a high gain amp. I have a Standout so I know how outstanding it is for this. Have just always wondered how they compare. Thanks.

The Pinball tightens up the amp, but not as tight as the Standout. That’s said, the Pinball is really transparent and tightens up the bottom end...but it doesn’t neuter it. The Standout adds midrange and kinda chips off bottom end. I can get the Pinball to sound 90-95% of the Standout, but have to use extreme settings. I personally think it’s worth having both. I have the Dragon as well. :D

Nice work Dave!

Hopefully the VFE guy starts up again after a short time...he's had a history of shutting down, then starting up again....

Yeah, I hope he does start back up. His pedals are really good. That said, he gives away schematics so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone copies it and puts it out as their own. :scared:

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Wondering what that would do to a Quick Rod.

Both sound great man. They seem to do a good job of keeping the core tone and just taking it up a notch or two.

So you saw I had got one and you ended up finding one of your own that fast, huh?

I completely agree with your point I highlighted about the Standout chipping off some of the low-end. I find if you leave the mid-boost on +6db it retains the most low-end, but if you switch to +9db it takes more and lastly +12db takes even more. If your amp has power amp controls like a depth setting, you most likely can dial that low-end loss back in though.

Damn. Who modded that JC20??

I modded it with lots of help from Mark Cameron.

Qweklain- I’ve had the Standout since Feb. I was looking for another one. :D

My understanding is the toggle is not a 6,9, and 12db option. The middle position leaves one filter at 6 and the other 12.
