So today I was goofing off with these three amps, and decided to do a half-ass comparison. I did not set them to sound the same, but instead have them setup how I use them, and they are relatively similar how I EQ them. Not doing this for a better/worse, but just to enjoy tone and have fun! Here is my interpretation; Mezzabarba is wide in all frequencies, big in the bass, big in the mids, big in treble. It’s a strong amp. Good versatility and all around monster of an amp.
IIC+ is the most polished and clean. Under the same amount of gain as the others it has a vintage-ish tonality and feel. Bass is in a perfect place, meshes right in and does not crowd the ‘tonal bandwidth’. Huge midrange, and round everywhere, just a singing while cutting through a mix kind of legend.
The Morse is the most versatile of the group, and I keep it setup to be a little more open and complex. I actually set it up to have some vibe of my favorite Plexi style amps, SL67 and Metroplex, but with a really smooth voice underneath. It plays like a dream under the fingers. Presence is up high here and bass is lower, it opens without getting fizzy. I could make it similar to the others, but I use it like this to kind of retain some Marshall-ish character.
All are world class.
