Michael Nielson finds out about my secret weapon amp

Really want to play one of these. I wish he played more of the High Gain of the CLEAN channel to hear how that could do some classic rock perhaps, then also take a boost.

Yeah that high gain mode of the clean absolutely kills on this amp. Honestly everything kills on it, plus it has a ton of quality of life features like the dual masters

The only shitty thing is that you need a z9 or a kartakou equivalent to have all the features be footswitchable, which is an extra cost, but its not ridiculous. If you have a normal footswitch you can pick from any of the features through the jacks on the back and mix and match them


This amp is way more versatile than most of the ENGL lineup, and I think its pretty underrated
 
ENGL's are insane amps. The problem is once you have one, you don't *need* anything else. o_O

I tracked down an ENGL Special Edition E670 after searching for years. It's the perfect amp. Does everything I need and more. I had plans to pick up a Fireball 100 and I wanted to check out a Marty Friedman Inferno, Savage 120, etc.. Nah don't need to anymore. The power of an ENGL is too great.

Yep really liked mine when I had it. Was one of the last few amps I had back to back up against the Mezzabarba Trinity and it just destroyed that amp. I let it go to get an EVH and was a mistake for me as after about maybe 10 mins I just can't play the EVH, just haven't bonded with it.

Of all the amps I've owned since I've had my number one JVM, the Artist is the closest for me in terms of feel and dynamics. It is very Marshally for an Engl.

Shoulda kept it. My only gripe is I wished it had just a tad more gain as I don't use OD's etc...

Great amp, highly underrated.
 
Excellent video he did. Ive been saying it for years too how underrated this amp is. I have the Axe Palace Special Edition one with KT77s and it just brings it to a whole new level.

It's way more marshall flavored than most of the ENGL line, and I recommend it to people as such

If you want a 2203 flavored thing with a ton of modern amenities and control for live, its about as good as it gets
 
I have a great friend from Brazil who got me into Engl Special Edition, and he loves them. I told him at some point I really liked the Steve Morse Sig when I tried one at GC, back in the late 2000s, and he told me I was going to love the SE.
One of the very few amps that I liked but never, for some reason, ended up with one.
Some of the best high gain amps out there.
 
My first post here. Some might know me from Guitargearforum. Yes, these amps are epic especially for the price. I only sold mine because it didn't play well with my Synergy SYN-1 because of the parallel loop. Also the Blackmore is 95% the same amp just a little more metal focused on hi lead. I've had both and they were my favorite Marshally channel switchers only ecliped tonally by a good 800 or Plexi but much more liveable for gigging with a really good master volume.

That's the best thing about them, besides the price - they're 90% of a good 800 or plexi but with all of the quality of life gigging stuff

I dont think I could ever live without two footswitchable master volumes gigging ever again
 
Yeah, I had a killer sounding 1972 Plexi through Power station side by side with it and yes, you do get that extra goodness from the single channel amps but they just aren't as practical or easy to live with for all uses. I just bought a Mark VII and would say it is the Mesa equivalent. My 2 favorite channel switchers. And luckily enough I figured out how to dial the Mark VII channel to sound like Fastredponycars Mark VII 2B channel video using the EQ of my Boss GT1000 which also is my midi controller for it.

Had one on my radar. It sold on reverb as I just bought two new amps. Figured I could wait for a bit then this video drops and now I'll have to wait for the hype to die down for a few months

They punch way, way above their weight class - unfortunately, now the cat is out of the bag and its going to be rough finding them for under a grand
