Hi all, I've been searching high and low for this information and can't find it, so I figured I'd come back to the source and ask directly on the Diezel boards... Basically my setup is a Herbert, an FCB1010 and a G-major. I long ago figured out how to go about programming channels changes on the Herbert as well as things like channel change including enabling volume 2 and/or mid-cut etc., but I was hoping to figure out whether there was a way to simply send a signal to the Herbert to switch on/off the mid-cut, switchable mute, volume 2 or tuner functionality while leaving everything else in tact. Doing so would make the midi board much more intuitive for my purposes. If not, it's not the end of the world, but I'm getting tired of searching and wanted to get back to playing =). If anyone has any insight, please let me know (hope I explained my issue in a way all of you can understand, MIDI is not my first language).

AFAIK the Diezel amps don't handle CC messages that should be used for this kind of operations (the only [EDIT] missing feature [/EDIT] that Diezel amps have IMHO), it means you'll have to program a preset for each configuration.

Ohh well, not the end of the world, I'll work around it, thanks very much for the response.

It´s not an issue. You will need send and recieve via
midi means midi in and midi out.

You can.......

If you want volume 2 to come on, just program another preset exactly the same, except with the volume 2 on instead of 1. Same thing with the mid cut, mute, etc.

It's very simple.

The op realizes that. Using something like a GCP or Rocktron all access and a full midi rig it would just make sense to have a CC button for volume 2 for instance instead of having to make a preset for every channel with volume 2 enabled. That requires 4 extra buttons on the floor vs 1 for a CC master 2 switch. The problem escalates if you want to switch all of the amps functions.. You now need at least 16 programs stored on your foot controller for what 4 program changes and 2 CC buttons could handle.

I thought Wilder Amplification was working on a new chip for the Herbert to enable midi CC. They use to be on rig-talk but now they aren't, and i am not sure why.

What I meant is that CC support is for me the only thing that is missing on your amps, I didn't want to say there is any problem with them :)

That is correct. Rumor has it that Rig Talk removed him for this very reason. Seems kinda messed up that they would do that considering the fact that he took on the project to fulfill the request of Rig Talk Diezel owners specifically.

But rest assured the chip is coming out, just not sure when yet as the chip is still undergoing testing. I spoke with him at great length mid-last week regarding the release of this chip and from what little he's told me it sounds like it's going to be an awesome accessory for all Diezel owners. I know I'll be definitely getting one for my Herbert as soon as it's released. Been waiting for this level of functionality to become available for the Herbert ever since I got my Ground Control Pro a year and a half ago.

Well since this post seems to have some attention, I'm going to take advantage and ask a question. It's not exactly Diezel related as everything's working great with the Herbert, but I figure you guys will forgive me...

I couldn't get my FCB-1010 working properly with the G-major so I reset it, and once I did that and changed the G-Major to MIDI channel 1, whatever pedal I pressed on the FCB, the G-Major would follow, i.e. I press pedal 1, G-Major goes to preset 1, I press pedal 88, G-Major goes to preset 88. Clearly this was not what I wanted it to do, but hey it was working, it was a start.

I tried programming some footswitches to send the program change to the G-Major to the preset I wanted by following the procedure below, but every time I do it, the new adjusted pedal simply brings the G-Major back to preset 1. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

-Selected the footswitch I wanted to edit
-Hold "Down" for 2.5 second to go into programming mode
-Hit "Up" to tell it I don't care what it does with the switches
-Step on "1" to tell it I want to adjust the preset sent on MIDI channel 1
-Hit "Up" to confirm
-Used the expression pedal to select 48 (the leslie chorus I want to hear on that preset)
-Hit "Up" to confirm
-Hold "Down" to get out of program mode

Someone please let me know if you get a chance, in the meantime I'm going to go post this in the main forum...
