Jose was Argentinian, not Mexican, and he was an engineer I believe...he worked on designing amps for Vox like the Super Beetle and a few others I think...

I tried to call Jose's number but couldn't get hold of him to discuss a mod. Guess someone else currently among the living may have to do it. There are no patents on amp circuits and modifications.

Sure man. And Fender owes RCA a billion. And Marshall then owes Fender 2 billion. And... We could keep going. No need to rip on guys that try to make a living giving some of us some incredible tonal options. Only so many people out there have a real Jose and have the ability to recreate that exact circuit. From looking inside the Cali I had there's a hell of a lot of work that went into that amp. I have Tim Caswell about 40 minutes away from me....his mod is the same price as Mike Fortins Jose. That's just the going rate.

Yes, they are but unless it is patented his mod designs are free reign for anybody to use. So technically it is not stealing so they owe no one anything except acknowledgment that Jose was a great innovator which Mike Fortin and others do. Mike is probably one of the biggest fans of Jose's work!!

This^^^. These modders may use some of Jose's ideas as a platform, and then do their own thing with it. It's amazing that some people need this concept explained to them.
