Theyre good cabs but the afterburner is too heavy and big for me. Plus I think they sound very simular to the recto cab. A used recto cab would be you best option IMO

I disagree, from the A/B clips I heard they sounded nothing alike. The afterburner sounded stale to me with little to no texture of its own (opinion) was maybe a bit tighter, but had none of the tonal "character" that the Recto cab has. As to whether or not one is better than the other is pure opinion, but to say they sound alike is false.

I don't think they're stale, but the Mills do have a transparency about them. Thats what they were designed to do, let the speakers full character come through and keep cabinet colouration to a minimum. I think its great, not everyone will.

Until you have actually owned and played said cab with your guitar, in your space, for a decent period of time, your can't make such a claim.

You can listen to clips till you are blue in the face, but they are never a substitute for the real deal. I've owned 3 Mesa Recto OS cabs, and they sound nothing like my Mills 4X12 Afterburner.

So you run a finger up my ass implying that I am inexperienced and then agree with the point that I originally made. Awesome bro

Plus, when the question is "how does it sound in a mix" then how it sounds on tape has more bearing on my decision than "how does it sound in the room"

I am interested in getting a Miller Acoustics in 2X12. Don't know how it hold up against Mesa, Vader or Genz. The Afterburner feature seems interesting but don't understand the working of it or if it even matters.

I got two EV Black Labels in one of Dave's 2x12's. If this was a Mesa, those speakers would blow the back door off. Genz is probably another mass produced cab. Don't know about Vader's. The AB is just a name. But, the cab construction, cabinetry, baffle, assembly, etc. is certainly different from others. They are still made one at a time. Not as evident maybe in a 212, but the 412's are in another league. Oversized (and overweight), they are the one's which others should be judged. I am sure there are equivalents out there. Customer service at Mills is great though.

I had a regular jcm900 cab loaded with EVM 12ls. If there was any blowing to be had I must have missed it. :(

Port City without a doubt! I don't think they get enough credit because many people have not tried them. I've had many, and it's definitely my Fav. I'm trying to sell one as we speak to fund a 2x12, because I really think a 2x12 will suit me. You should at least give em a look.
+1 on Port City. I have a OS 2x12 and it sounds monstrous.
