This my mini home studio which I built over the years. It's a 10x8 walk-in closet which I converted to my mini studio. I lined the walls with sound dampening foam and then covered it with thin carpeting. At the bottom of the wall, I used cork board to cover the dampening foam. Then I put a layer of sound dampening foam over the carpet and on top of that a 10x8 rug. Under my speakers I used some boards from a shelf that I got rid of, and the mass of it helps everything sit stably on the carpet and also dampens the sound.

Overall, I can crank my amps like a relatively loud TV without the sound going beyond the game room outside of the closet. It's not very loud, but it allows the power amps to get just enough juice to sound pretty good. I had a light switch installed outside of the door which my family flickers to alert me when they need something so no one interrupts a recording session. It works well enough so that I can get good enough tone and play comfortably while everyone is asleep.

The first photo shows a baby-changing dresser which I converted to a tech bench. It looks a bit crowded in the picture, but I have enough room on the table to lay a guitar down and work on it. I have collected many tools and parts over the years and even some luthier tools which I use to level and dress frets, etc...

Same thing with the closet photos, it looks more crowded in the photos than it is. I can sit, stand, turn around, or move side to side with a guitar strapped on. It's not roomy, but enough space to house 3 amp heads, 2 1x12 cabs, pedal board, recording gear, laptop, inventory, 9 of my guitars, and even a little garbage can. It's a bit embarrassing to be confined to such a tiny little studio, but it's mine and I think it's kind of cool.

Well anyway, here are some pics. If you have pics of your own then I'd love to see and read about them.

Ubermetaldood: That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. I've been trying to figure out what to do when I move in my new place to store gear and record!

JTyson: Goddamn is that impressive!

That is what I call making the most use of a small space! Well done!

That's not a mini studio! Damn beautiful wall of Marshalls man. Nice.

Thanks man. It was originally a server + com room which housed all of my servers and Cisco routers. That's why I had the power outlets installed. I was using it to prepare for my CCIE exam, but after I got my CCNP, I kind of lost interest in going further. It was actually more impressive than this little studio, but no one uses real equipment to train on these days.

Thanks. I'm going to be building a new house in about 3 years so that's as far as I'm going with this one. The next one will be real professional, but still only big enough for guitar, bass, and drum area. The vocalist will have to make due in the corner :)

Lol. Here's my analog setup (and digital) crammed into the bedroom of my old apartment.

Oh man that's great. Do you record all digital or do you ever mic a tube amp?

Post pics of mine when I get home from work but just have to say ubermetaldood you have conquered the final frontier, SPACE! That is amazing what you have fit in that area and it appears to be organized and clean. Nice job. I have space but I have way too much clutter. Pics to come.

JTyson - Cisco now has VIRL which my SE says is killer. I just threw out a bunch of old routers and shit myself.

Yeah, I have a bunch of dated stuff in the racks that rarely ever gets turned on. I cant bring myself to throw it out, and I cant get a fraction of what I paid for it, so it just sits there, pissed off

Nothing too exciting here, just an extra room in the house that I occupy with all my music junk. Hopefully in no more than 1 year, I'll have my studio completed. 500 square foot studio with it's own heat/AC, leather couches, hard wood floors, screen TV, fridge (with beer) for entertainment. Steel bolted door, reinforced walls, camera/alarm system, me, for security. Doing almost all the work myself to build it, so it's going to take a while.

Converted a spare bedroom / closet into my studio space. Used some Auralex stuff for treatment, angled a few walls etc.....came out pretty cool. These are some old pics will have to update them at some point. A few changes here and there. I thought I had a pic of my closet/ iso room, but it seems to have been deleted...will have to fix that. Put a patch panel in one of the walls and made a custom snake to run to my main room for the mixer hook ups and speaker cables.

Spend a lot of time there. :)

Civilized folks or non-bachelors would use this area as a dining room, but instead it's my woodshed area.

Nice and simple. I like it. It's easy to keep clean and organized.

I also took a spare bedroom and put most of my gear in there, making it a simple home studio. I'm patiently waiting for the market to fully recover though so I can sell this place and get a bigger home and do something similar to JTyson's setup (insane!!)...I don't have nearly as much gear, but I want that much space and freedom lol!

Crunchity, that's a nice little collection of guitars you have goin on there as well! My issue right now is the cab. Even though I out some insulation and moving blankets around it, while in the room you can talk comfortably over the sound but when i go up to the second floor, the sound just carries everywhere! I like your closet tracking spaces.. right now i am in "negotiations" to get a spot under the basement stairs for my 2 x 12 because the basement closet is already in use. Now what i am going to do with all the $hit i have stored under there is a whole other question but i guess we'll figure that out soon enough!

Here's a few of my man cave. Just finished a few months ago

Here's a pic from 15 years ago of my recording rig, a folding table, a couple of milk crates and a plank of wood.

These are not studios...I have not seen one lava lamp in any of them!

j/k - great looking setups here. Your rooms are all so neat and organized. I really need to clean up my space before posting pics.
