Wondering if anyone has mixed the Mesa V30 on top ans Chinese on bottom. Seems like it would be a good mix with the warmer Mesas in top?

I had this setup in VHT Fatbottom and Mesa ones really smoothen overall sound of cab. I tried put cab on its side and cover each half for direct comparison. China V30 were nicely break-in and sound more present and agressive, more modern. Mesas sound more balanced and smoother. You can even them with presence control but it will never sound the same. Now i have Redbacks on the bottom of cab and really like it. Redbacks don’t have any frequency standing out but add more of overall sound.
I have pair of ‘94 V30 which I want to try instead Mesas.

Cool! Thanks for the feedback.

I’m just not sold on the GB/V30 mix in my Friedman 4x12. I want more balls and punch out of, and a little less grit coming from the GB’s. I love GB’s recorded.

So I want a high powered greenback that still has that magic, but with more and tighter bass.

I’ve tired the Creambacks M and H and they don’t sound like the original. I’ve watched countless video comparisons and the creambacks are different:

So I thought about going the Mesa V30 route.

How do you like the Redbacks / Mesa V30 mix and what amps and music are you playing?

If you can find the original G12T75, the vented magnets, they are very much like what they were first advertised as, a high powered Greenback.
They have no tonal similarity at all to the 75s of today.

I’ll look into those. I’m also gonna look at the Redback/V30 mix in an X pattern.

I have already tried Creamback 65 on the top with V30 bottom. Creamback has somewhat muffled top end and sound quite flat. H75 has boosted lows and highs, maybe too much. It sound more piercing than V30. Redback is quite flat but not so much as K100, sound like relaxed H75.
Originally Fatbottom was 2525 version (4xgreenback) it sounds massive, but I'm one of poeple who hear GB piercing when pushed, much more than V30. Of course I tried V30/GB mix, but You still hear more GB than V30. Interesting thing is that I had early Fatbottom like 10 years before and it was 2530 version (2xGB top, 2x Marshall V30 bottom) but that cab has extra panel inside, in horizontal direction (like two 2x12 glued together ) and it has really some magic included :) But this newer one never sound the same. Still one of the tightest cab around.
I was closest to solve this issue when I put Scumback's in. They are really greenback-ish, more than newer GB's but has more pleasing, fat and rounded tone. I tried 65watters H75 and J75. But in Europe is difficult get Scumback for reasonable money so I keep 'em for 2x12 rearloaded cab.

Hmmm...I've tried all kinds of Scumbacks and love them. Sounds like perhaps the Redback in an X pattern with the V30 could be a winner if it's a more relaxed CBH75
