Modded Marshall tone. What album comes to mind?

I always think of Zakk's tone on "NO MORE TEARS".
I know it's quadruple tracked... but it sounds killer to me!

Best modded Marshall tone ever imo is Gary Holt's Tempo of the Damned album tone.
If I could have only 1 amp in the whole universe it would be that one.

He uses Wizard now and a lot less hair ...

What kind of guitar is that? Never been much of a V guy but I really like that

Just so happens that I have an exact copy of Gary's 800's. ;) PM me if you'd like more info about it.

A million albums were done with a Marshall, and all modding does to them is give them more gain, the equivalent of throwing a boost in front. I find it a boring tone these days, but I liked it as a kid.

Exodus - Force of Habit (from the CD liner notes: mods done by Todd Langer)

One of my favorite songs from the album showcasing their modded Marshall tones:

This is my modded Marshall sound from a live gig. I own a Tommy Folkesson MK IV, four channels 50 watts. Love it :-)

When I build M-style amps (like the two in my recent thread), I'm often thinking of John Norum's tone. It has 'mellowed' over the years (probably is more 'stock' Marshall than modded Marshall, these days), but it is still great.

Others include Jake E Lee, Ratt, Lynch, and currently Tesla.

Skid Row Monkey Business (tho I believe they are just boosted JCM's)... That album IS marshall tone to me.

Actually, the Slave To The Grind album is all Rivera TBR-SL and M100.

Yes....and as you pointed out, my drummer now owns my old TBR 1SL, formerly Jason Bielers, and that amp may have been a part of the actual Skid Row album. I can tell you that it is very Marshally when using the slope/notch controls, and when I asked Jason about his boost he wasn't sure if it was an SD1 or a DS1. Cool amp.

Yeah, I have a TBR 1SL and an M60; both do the STTG and classic Saigon Kick tones effortlessly. Highly underrated clean channels too.

Whenever I think modded Marshall, I think Green Day / Dookie, Mer de Noms by APC, and Facelift.

As far as AiC is concerned, though, I always preferred the tones on Dirt to those on Facelift.

Notable songs for me for the bands above that just sound amazing in terms of guitar tone are The Hollow, When I Come Around, and Love Hate Love.

The Skid Row record was recorded with Rivera amps...
