maybe you already have your answer.

Maybe I do, i was just wondering if you heard all the great clips ive heard? I think before i buy a modena , ill go for the diezel vh4 and add that to the tower of power..... I just got to play the vh4 a few weeks ago, much diff than my herbert. I like the mid range bit it has. However the the nitro clips are monstorus, as well as the elmwood, but 3600 for elmo, i easily can hit a used vh4 for that, or just go new.... diezel did raise all their prices, are werent they high enuff?

I would go for the m-90 I love mine I have guys that try to by mine all the time. I just look at them and kindly say

I've never played an elmwood m90, but I have quite a bit of experience with the Nitro. I owned a KT77 one for a few days and my band mate has a KT88 loaded one know. I think it comes down to what you want out of this purchase, but it sounds like you're gassing for the Nitro.

IMO the Nitro isn't an ultra versatile amp so it's appears to be the polar opposite of the elmwood. It can get some very crushing modern metal tones and honestly I've never heard an m90 clip that has impressed me with those types of tones. All the clips I've heard always lead me to believe that if there was a genre of music the M60/90 isn't suited for, modern metal would be it; there is a common quality I hear in the clips that just doesn't seem like it would be pleasing to do that stuff. I know Soilwork uses them, but I recall someone on a thread saying their live sound was a bit muddy and fizzy. Just one opinion, but worth mentioning. One the flip side, some of the best lead clips I've heard were on an M90 and the M90 boosted clean clips sound killer too.

I've also come to the conclusion the Nitro is very picky in regards to guitars, pickups, & cabs/speakers. I've heard it's best to stay away from V30's with the Nitro. I'm starting to see why. With V30's it's very hard to find the right guitar and pickup combination and dial in a very tone. If you do, leave it and don't touch it lol. Again it's not an ultra versatile amp. It has a prominent low mid voicing that is present and you probably won't stray to far from your tried and true setting. The clean is also ok, but not spectacular.

I will say what I've said about the Nitro 100x before it's loud and the master sucks. My band mates is better than mine was, but you won't want the amp if you're jamming in an apartment. You got to open is up some.

I personally wouldn't own another Nitro. I think there are other amps that can do those types of tones much better & with more character, though they're probably more expensive. However, if I wanted monstrous metal tones I've never heard an elmwood clip that would make me want to try one out for that stuff. So I guess back to my question, what do you want from this amp purchase??? :D

When I was looking at the elmo I was also looking at the nitro. After many calls to cliff at destroy all guitars and and josh sage and a few others I went with the elmo from josh ( you could not find a better person to deal with ). Some of the things that josh told me was that the nitro loves lots of volume as due most amps but even more so,and that it does not like v-30's. The elmo on the other hand can run at bedroom levels and sounds great and it covers all stiles of music from country to metal I am a metal head and it does a pretty good job very versitile. If I was you I would get ahold of josh he is a member here and you can also look him up at( josh@rebelamps.com) he carries both amps talk to him and he will point you in the right direction.

that song wasnt recoreded with a recto, it was recorded with a nitro w/ el34b tung sols that came right from tony to scott splawn.....I have played the elmos both, i have played the nitro, i do have money down with josh as a repeat customer, nut depending which forum your on, you get diff answers but i enjoy all your comments and advice....

I am glad to hear you know josh. It's all in what you are looking for and what pleases your ears I to someday would like to get a nitro I think that they are a great sounding amp.

how do you like those diezel cabs? my herbert doesnt cut with the bassons, i am actually going to order mills cabs.one for herb v30s and one for the nitro but not sure which speakers, they say v30s are not good w/splawns

I dig the clips you're talking about but can't really comment since I've played neither of the amps :)

Modena.

It is one of the best amps I have ever played.

Awesome.

Great amps for sure!,but to me thats like comparing a vette to a ferrari...Both are fast and handle well, but one's clearly out in front of the other. Now the nitro is a great metal machine, but the elmwood is a lot more versatile. While I wouldnt say you could do country with it(compared to whats out there),You can cover a lot of styles with it...personally, I have a slo pre and it reminds of that a lot...BUT..youre gonna pay more too ;)

Killswitch sounds amazing live  All Nitro's with TS-9's

I'm pretty sure you could buy a brand new Nitro and pick up a used Suhr or Anderson guitar for just the price of the Elmwood. This isn't really a fair comparison, but even so, the Elmwood in the clip in this thread is extremely saturated and has very little articulation. I'm a Marshall guy and these clips sound as far away from a Marshall as you can be while still having a rock tone. Those VH riffs on CH2 weren't even in the ballpark. The clean was gorgeous though.

I have nightmares getting amps that saturated to be heard in a mix. They are extremely fun to play when you are by yourself though. I'll give you that.
